I don't know if these match up to Shure's quality, but if they do, than spending the money is a seperate transaction in all ways from buying an iPhone. My Shure ear-bud style headphones were $100 and they are amazing. If you fly a lot or simply can't stand to hear outside noises, than this is probably a pretty good investment. Plus, they're not that ugly white/sterile look of Apple's head phones. I can spot an iPod owner a mile away from the bright glare!
