Vertu's 3G Ascent Ti hits FCC
You've gotta give credit to Vertu for maximizing the life of its Signature and Ascent models by tweaking colors and precious metals ad nauseam, but at some point, you knew they had to just gut the thing and start anew. This here "Ascent Ti" just passed through the FCC, taking the Ascent formula and updating key specs to bring the luxury phone well into 2007. Namely, the Ascent Ti offers UMTS 2100 (for 3G data pretty much everywhere but here), a whopping 3 megapixel autofocus camera with flash, and what appears to be a well-updated, Vertu customized build of Series 40. No word on release date, but unless your last name happens to be "Rockefeller," you may need the time to save the dough anyway.

Series 40? Aren't Nokia on Series 60 OS?
It looks like it has a butt.
Yawn. Come on Vertu. Get over yourselves and build a real phone.
Nokia uses Series 40 for their "regular" phones and Series 60 for their smartphones. People who would buy Vertu phones are the same people who would buy an 8800...except much, much richer. It's all about having a phone that just looks like it cost a lot.
That "butt" crack (get it?!?!) is funny.
Is that the Rocketeer edition? or the Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow edition?
Not the least bit attractive whichever it is.
The keypad looks like it's optimized to match a Cadillac CTS-V.
Can someone please explain to me why I'd want a Vertu? I think they're damn near the ugliest phones out there.
Give me a classic 6230 any day (though add 5mp, a2dp, wifi & all the other niceties I'm getting quite used to in my N95).
One word phrase . Its not for everybody! simple as that! ITs a statuse symbol just like a RR . The phone is great for ... drum roll. TALKING. ! Thats what phones are for right? . Right.
