Motorola's RAZR 2 V8 spotted on sale in Hong Kong
Yeah, it's already on sale in South Korea, we know -- but still, there's something that warms our hearts about seeing an in-the-wild shot of a hot new phone with a sticker price proudly displayed right below it. This example comes from Hong Kong, where the V8 (GSM plus EDGE only, no 3G) rendition of the Motorola RAZR 2 is available for $3,380 HKD (about $432). The travel distance-to-price ratio is too high on this one to justify us flying out to grab it, but with any luck, maybe AT&T can come through for us before too long.

I hope at&t gets it out soon. I cant help but remember the failed launches of the past. v3i, n75, krzr, and on and on.. 6 months to even a year late. There are about 20 auctions on ebay for these right now, most at over $500( I,ll wait till it drops) Im puzzled though that every seller on ebay only has the 512mb version? beware if you go this route, most of them are not stating that its the lesser version. I emailed them all to find out, some sellers claimed they didnt know they made 2 versions,,I see another situation on ebay just like the v3i, where people assumed it was an itunes version and got the mp3. with this phone alot will assume its the 2gb and be dissapointed when the 512mb arrives instead.ASK FIRST!!!
Motorola always teases US consumers with their product releases.. they take FOREVER. Come on MOTO, I need to replace my V3!
And regarding 512MB phones.. they are the model that comes with external storage no? I'd rather have that than internal memory.
the v8 (the only linux version) does not have expandable memory. it comes in 2 versions. 512mb and 2gb. both internal. not expandable. the v9 (3g) and v9m (evdo) both synergy. have expandable memory options with an sd slot.the reason ive read that synergy is used in the v9 and v9m is that linux can not do 3g as of now.
Hong Kong got the KRZR (K1) first too.
You can get the phone now at www.wirelessimports.com
This phone isn't scheduled to come out on AT&T until late August and possibly September of 2007. The price is estimated at $320 with a 2 year contract ($299 wtih the unlimited internet package). The full price of the phone is set at $469.99. That is for the V9 through AT&T.

Another good news: Hong Kong subway (Mass Transit Railway, MTR) Service of surfing the Net that there were actions too at last! Hong Kong subway Company say except that be able to be in railway platform and hall use the service of WiFi passengers, the focus in the carriage still can receive the signal of 3.5G, but such a service is not expensive, so long as 20 Hongkong dollars for one day, can enjoy the unrestricted action and surf the Net in subway station and carriage.
I've already had this phone in the States for a little over a week. WOnderful phone. Never go back to Synergy again.
I have a full review of the V8 over at Howard's Forums.
