Verizon has
got to be rolling its eyes at this one. We're not too sure what's going on behind the scenes here, but Amp'd has seemingly somehow bought itself a few additional days of life on Verizon's backbone,
moving its drop-dead date forward one week to next Tuesday, July 31. For customers -- or ex-customers, as the case may be -- expecting to wake up this morning and find a bricked Amp'd handset, we imagine this is probably a welcome reprieve. The frequently-asked questions list still claims customer service is dead as of the 23rd, though, so don't expect to get chatty with any Amp'd peeps this week.
At least that gives the Amp'd people a couple more days to switch carriers. Although a good deal of Amp'd customers have bad credit so they may have limited options to switch. I'm just happy I dont have to see those dumb Amp'd commercials anymore.
I have already switched services. I will be going with T-Mobile. I think it was S****y the way they did us. They won't even give us back our money. They just need to go ahead and stop the service and stop wasting everyone's time.
They said that certain customers could apply for a refund of funds. AMP'd is no long in control of it's finances...a judge is. This is called BANKRUPTCY.
Make sure you read through the FYI before you complain about being robbed.
People are losing their jobs over this...
Dude I was not complaining. It tis not my fault thatt people are losing their jobs. I paid my bill.
Man i am so glad i did not open the go phone i just bought. This was an unexpected expense so i was just gonna get a prepaid for about 2 weeks then go to another carrier but with this at least i can relax a lil bit. B*tches. I couldve went without payin my phone bill last friday, as in 24 hours everyone got that bullsh*t breakup text message. What *ssholes.
I'm one of those rare Amp'd customers who had good credit and paid his bill every month. I foolishly chose Amp'd about 6 months ago because I could get 500 minutes on the Verizon network for $30 instead of the $40 from Verizon or AT&T. Did not care about all the ghetto crap they streamed, just wanted a phone.
So now I'm ported over to Verizon, got a new Razr for $9.99 and a two year contract with Verizon.
Learned my lesson and would not touch another startup cell phone carrier.
I too paid my bill on time.
Brick'd
lol :P
i got Ampd to refund the monthly fee of my hybrid plan on my account and my wifes account as well. And I got Best buy to return both phones as we only had them about one month. I has to speak with Stephanie Smith at Ampd to get the monthly fee back as well as air time purchases back as the hybrid was working like a prepaid. her contact info is:

There was a payment form your credit card that was made so your card was credited back. I did not see the 6/5 charge initially but did see it today and requested a refund of the $53 back to card ending in 3608. That request was just made today so please do not expect to see it before Monday 7/23/2007.

Donald;
The first email I sent to you I explained the credits. Michelle only had two credit card transaction approved for $20 each (ending 3871). She should see a total of $40 back on that card and that is all that is owed UNLESS you can provide a bank statement showing otherwise.

Stephanie,
I received my credit... However there should be a separate credit for Michelle Pettis under her own credit card account... How war her credit issued and to what card was it issued to... Mine credit was issued card ending in Visa ending in 7508. Michelle Pettis has two credit cards that were used. Michelle is saying that none of her cards have been credited... Now my credit card is from the same company as one of hers, so if i got a credit today July 13, 2007 and she has not from the same company but different account from mine then were is hers?
Was Michelle Pettis issued a refund to two credit cards?
What was the amount to each credit card?
What was the last 4 numbers of the 1st card for Michelle that you issued a credit to?
What was the last 4 numbers of the 2nd card for Michelle that you issued a credit to?
Please call me 317-809-7835 or email me back donzuc@safeco.com

Dear Mr. Donald Zuchowski;
This email is being sent to confirm our conversation yesterday regarding your credit card refund request. I have submitted the request and it will take 2 to 5 business days for the refund to appear back in your account(s).
Your account number 3174188 had credit card charges totaling $70 which we will refund to credit card ending in 7508. Your wife’s account number 3173936 shows only $40 in credit card charges (that were approved) on credit card ending in 3871. In order to credit any additional amounts on this account, you will need to provide a bank statement showing the additional $50 in charges. You can fax or email this information to my attention at the contacts listed below.
Please note that we can not issue anymore credits to your accounts. Please advise if you would like me to deactivate the accounts or if you will be continuing service by making monthly credit card payments to add minutes to your account.
Regards,
Stephanie Smith,

I ported my number via the internet to Verizon. Yesterday, my son tried porting his number to Sprint, BestBuy guy said Amp'd would charge a early term fee! I called they said no, so ported his # tonight, will take a couple of days. However, the CS rep at Sprint said Verizon has now bought out Amp'd! She told me this not more than 15 mns ago (11:30 pm CST 07/24)! Does this mean all this hassle of porting, before a brick date--was a waste of time??? I am not giving Amp'd another penny--they owe me 142 dollars, my bill will be about $89....they will Still owe me $53!
All of this is insane....why would Verizon wait until the last second to buy them out--wait for the customer base to be near nothing? What's there left to buy? They already have 'put out' services for Amp'd--the Amp'd name is ran into the ground (rightly so)! I say it is a waste---Verizon doesn't need some company to hold them down -by bailing Amp'd out--I guess it's a nice tax write-off---hmmm, but I bet that money could be better spent elsewhere!
So what will happen to all 40% non paying customers? Are they cleared?
Def. P'ED OFF,
I don't know about anybody else but I was more than happy with amp,d mobile!
I would have even paid an extra 10.00 a month. Still would have been cheeper then VZ/W!
U can't even get as good of content with VZ/W but under pressure I am now in a 2yr contract... after the 30 days that is.
As far as Im concerned the owner of amp'd could have had a very successful busines if he played his cards right...
Dumb _ss!
The worst of it is,has anybody click the link on ampd mobile's web site http://www.ampd.ca/
They are still up and running and dont plan on closing the doors.
Subsidiary....
The owner is the owner!
check out sprint.com or even better,
http://www.helio.com I still have 27 days with VZ/W and just might switch....
The ocean is very cool from specs read.
As far as phone service,(helio) if u'r out of sprints service area the phone goes into roaming and YES, even utilizes the Verizon Wireless towers, and more! So I have read anyway.
helio: all in 500 mins $65 The TV set $5.99 first month free! $70.99 Still cheaper then
VZ/W plus mins.
vz/w America's Choice Premium Package w/450 mins $79.99.
U do the math!
P/ED OFF AMP'D X-CUST;
ME
PS Have A Nice Day ;)
I just want to know , where do you sign up to be part of the BIG ASS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT that AMP mobile should have against them??? I know they went into bankruptcy so that probably wont happen, but they shut down service without even notifiying customers..I happened to be surfing the web and thats how I found out my service was due to be cut with them..They have a grade "F" with the Better Business Bureau and basically they just bit off more than they can chew and expect full payment and they arent giving any credits for subscribers who have been with them from the start. It says it on there web page as well I did file a BBB complaint and they stated they couldnt credit anything at this time ..They've got to be joking when you now have to purchase new service, new phone!!!If anyone does have any more info POST IT!!!
I am with you on that. We should have got a letter or something. I paid my bill on th e15th and was told thte servce would not be shut off.
so now its Aug 1.... my ampd phone is still online and taking in calls. I have already picked up a new phone on another provider. Does this mean that I am on Verizon??? don't think I signed a contract or heard they were picking up ampd customers.
Verizon has sent a notice to their retailers stating not to activate phones purchased from Amp'd. However some phones are able to be activated by a willing retailer using the hex number rather than the esn which will be rejected by Verizon's registration system. On the Verizon wireless frequently asked questions page it states that any cdma phone can be activated by Verizon which contradicts the notice sent to Verizon retailers. This can successfully be used as a bargaining issue to have your Amp'd phone activated.I Flashed my Q with verizon's software and it works great. If you live in the Massachusetts area I can give you the name of a person that will activate your Amp'd phone on Verizon.
Well now what do I do I have a Razor phone that was prepaid that I spend $300.00 to purchase it and now what I have asked Sprint, Tmobile, If they could activate and the asnswer has been no no what can I do I guess nothing that sucks big time .....
:(
