Update: Ok, updating took about five or six minutes. Noticing anything specifically? Let us know in comments, we'll list the fixes here (since Apple wasn't courteous enough to tell us what, exactly, it repaired in the device).
Ah, Apple's added the fix / changelog. Noice! Just looks like Safari-related security updates. That's fine and good, now howsabout the constant, mind-popping crashing going on with that app?
Oh, and good news everybody! iFuntastic (v2) still functions with the 1.0.1 update! We tested it, and it worked beautifully.
Also, is it just us or did all these Safari security fixes come along with stability fixes as well? We've never seen mobile Safari perform so admirably with eight full ajaxy pages open as we have since loading up 1.0.1.

who's hating? I love my iPhone!! Would I bother writing about a firmware update if I didnt? Are you so blind and stupid to accept fixable problems just because it has an apple logo on it? You should learn to comprehend what you read before running your obviously naive little mouth.

Nice fixes, I just wish they would improve Safari performance a bit more. The ability to scroll down while a page is still loading, and not have it stutter, would be nice. And any website that is very graphic intesive, like gamespot, also runs terrible. Sometimes you gotta swipe your finger like 6 times before it actually responds and scrolls down. I hope to god they can improve it with some software optimizations, and it's just not a hardware limitation of the iPhone.
The keyboard in landscape mode now has suggestions and auto-correction. Very nice.

After the restore/update, my contacts did not sync until I force quit/restarted the iPhone. Also, aren't my Safari bookmarks from my MacBook supposed to sync to the portable Safri on hte iPhone? I can't get the damn bookmarks to Sync :(
ok, maybe this is something you did and think i'm a moron for suggesting, but you know you have to select that manually, right?
you click the iphone in itunes, go to the info tab, scroll down, and click sync safari bookmarks.

Jailbreak and activation works just fine!! I had to do a restore which freaked me out,now it is activated again ;)
Hi kirankonathala, what happen when you did the upgrade? Did you used Anderson method? I used another one with a prepaid AT&T SIM card. Right now I am outside US and I don't know if I need an AT&T signal to activate it again if something goes wrong. If you want to stop safari or any other application from crashing just let your phone run out of battery, after I did that all my applications worked fine.
One confirmed non-listed bug fix. VPN settings now properly remember security level setting, and password in between VPN sessions. Yay!
are you sure they didn't add anything here's what AT&T webpage says when i check my features

I noticed better exchange through IMAP support I can see all the folders on my companys network
The iPhone bug fix corrected issues w/ iMap accounts, where it was not displaying folders on the server. After installer 1.0.1, I can now see my folders, and select the correct "sent" mail folder.
It appears the VPN password saving problem is fixed.. not only that, but I can actually check my IMAP enabled Exchange server through the VPN connection now.
Ok, so I just did the update and my sound doesn't work anymore. For example the click when you slide to open, clicks for typing a text. The sound when typing a phone number. Anyone know what is up with that? I can listen to my songs on the iPod just fine and sample the ringtones. Anyone come across a similar situation???
Did you accidentally turn on the ringer mute switch?
I can see the proper exchange folders now too. Thank goodness they didn't charge $2 for this update as an "added feature" for accounting purposes.
DID any one notice a diffrent i volume on youtube and ringtones or is it just me?
my volume is louder too!

After this update my iphone don't asking any time for EDGE to load Safari and etc. - when no wifi conn. present.
I think Apple decided that user must use more faster Wifi connection instead of Edge.
ATT.com's iPhone plan features pages are STILL unavailable. This is ridiculous.

Does it fix the VPN password bug, where it give a numeric keypad when it prompts you to enter the password?
Just tried updating my iphone with some iFuntastic 2.0 features loaded (pwn3d carrier images and some ringtones) and the update identified my phone as being in recovery mode. Will have to do a full software restore of the iphone...
You can literally see an image of Jesus on the apple.com website using the safari browser after the update.
does this update, and can future updates, de-activate a hacked iphone? i hacked my iphone to use my old at&t sim card, so i don't have to change my current plan. does this mess that up??

Mail seems to open a new message MUCH faster. It looks like it's displaying as it loads, as opposed to loading the entire message and then displaying.
This is a big deal to me, at least.
I downloaded the 1.01 and it was flawless - I noticed three fixes right away, the ability to do custom ringtones, plus cut and paste and ofcourse group SMS. NOT!!!!! but i wish. . .
There has been at least one change that is not a bug fix. When connecting to my home wi-fi I noticed that you no longer had to indicate what type of WEP password you were using. Previously you had to indicate "HEX or ASCII" if you had a 128 bit WEP password. I guess that led to a ton of phone calls from people who kept being told that their password was incorrect. So there is at least this one interface improvement.
For anyone who has had the battery not showing fully charged, it looks like it got fixed too. Mine finally shows fully charged.. it was able to the first day but then not after that. now it's "fully charged" again.
ooh, me too. i didn't even catch that. i was so annoying that it would get to the very end and not show as fully charged.
Synching Safari bookmarks is an option in ITunes. Make sure you have it turned on.
-when using the timer app, if the phone is set to vibrate, the timer still plays whatever sound is chosen
-battery now shows fully charged on mine as well
Anyone that has done sim card card hack after the firmware update? i read somewhere that iphoneinterface doesn't work anymore.. which is needed to deactivate the lock of the sim that comes with the iphone..
ATT is a mess. You cannot activate your iPhone on a business account. Thus, if you want a iPhone, it will not be part of a company account. I have spent a total of 6 hours on the phone with ATT Customer (non) Support. What a mess. Nice phone, too bad ATT does not know how to run a company or simply could care less about customer support.
I got mine updated... @#!@#$%^ an error message appears while it's applying the update, then it forced me to do a restore... dang! it downloaded 91.3MB prolly restore files then after its done it reactived from at&t, all my 200 contacts, pictures, email settings, bluetooth and everything that i made were all gone!?@?#?$?%^& ggrrrrr!!!!!!!
the update fixed issues related to connecting to a security enabled network. I was never able to connect to my WiFi with a WEP key. Now I can.
Good news - Now I can sync my calendar with Outlook 2003. Used to not work but Apple support told me that it will be fixed with update. Yeah!
Bad news - now I can't sync Yahoo address book. Used to work now doesn't. I guess I need to call back support. Boo!
What happens when you restore your phone? What part of the phone is restored? or what information is lost? Please, and thankyou!
