After I *THOUGHT* everything was in tip-top shape, after it said it had activated with AT&T, I turned it on later and I was presented with the "Please Activate iPhone". Now, every time I plug it into my Mac (without the iPod dock, of course) it just beeps repeatedly, doesn't show up in iTunes, and says "sync in progress". After force restarting it several times, I'm able to use it, though it still beeps repeatedly when I plug it in.

I'm admittedly an iPhone fanboy... waited in line for 4 hours to get this puppy on release day and now I'm quite embarrassed and annoyed.

pintweaks

Comments on Apple iPhone update 1.0.1 released!

ARGH... getting an error halfway through the update (0xE8000029, or something). Have to restore the iPhone.

... oh great... iTunes says the iPhone can't be restored (unknown error -50). I misplaced my iPhone dock during my last move, so I've been using an iPod dock until I find it. It syncs just fine through the iPod dock, but won't update software. I took it out of the dock and plugged in the cable straight, and the software update worked. Apparently the iPod dock is more than simply a passive piece of plastic.

pintweaks

Comments on Apple iPhone update 1.0.1 released!

what is it with people trying to use accessories that clearly are not made for the device?
