NBC and Verizon have gotten even tighter
than they already were, announcing that select goodies from all nine of NBC's video channels are now available to subscribers via Verizon's VCAST multimedia service. The content seems to pretty much span the entire range, including NBC News, sports and comedy programming, Bravo, Telemundo, and others; whether this is enough of a carrot to sway many to shell out for the VCAST subscription remains to be seen, but it's a good start. The new content is available immediately -- and fortunately, none of it seems to be branded as "premium content," meaning that it'll be available as part of the basic package.
Hmm. The LAST thing I want is to create a path for Microshaft to get overly chummy with Verizon. M$ has skewed every technology they've put their hands to, even to the point of putting what, 7? different versions of Widows Blister on the market? Almost every prior version of Windows has done two things: it forces the host PC into submission, and it obsoletes whatever Microshaft decides is not worthy. As well as adding features that nobody ever requested via direct communications to Microshaft. So, lets see if I can guess 18 months into the future: MSNBC and Verizon get chummy which leads to MS(minus NBC) and Verizon getting chummy; MS and Verizon team up which leads to 'forced featurization' of the cell phone operating environment by MS; then a mass obsolescence of todays cell phones because MS says not compatible.
Never mind - that was too much of a tangent.
I'd prefer to have a choice of networks; not just MSNBC.
