New ACCESS Linux Platform screenshots emerge
For those still remotely interested in the ACCESS Linux Platform, we applaud you, and to reward you for your faith, ACCESS has reportedly launched a web portal chock-full of new screenshots from the forthcoming ALP. Admittedly, a few of the captures look mighty similar to those we saw back in February, but the new "User Experience" demonstration vividly depicts the screens found when visiting your Contacts, Photos, Music Player, Dialer, Home / Incoming Call screens, and Launcher. Go on, hit up the gallery for some high-resolution footage.

Who cares? Palm is developing its own Linux-based platform and has all but severed ties with ACCESS. We'll never see ALP running on Palm hardware. In fact, we'll probably never see ALP...period. Not on this side of the Pacific at any rate.
Hey! It's just like an iPhone...but...not.
mkay...what is hte point of this? How about something......NEW?
*Disclaimer- I am not an Apple fanboy.*
Does this not look a little ....familiar. Try looking at the main menu of the iPhone and the main menu pictured here. I am not saying anyone is copying any one, but it looks awfully...."inspired."
But hey, a company like Palm needs all the inspiration it could possibly get. Samsung was inspired by Motorola's RAZR, causing almost all of their mobiles to become emaciated--in form, that is--and look where it landed them: in the number two spot, one below Nokia, but, more importantly, one above Motorola, the source of inspiration.

Be that as it may, I hope this gets the company back on its feet. Now, if only they could get someone to design the phone as well as the platform...
@derX
You Apple FanBoy!!! Just kidding man, I can see what you're talking about. BUT, being a Palm 755p user, it looks to me like a very very updated (and very very much needed) version of the current Garnet OS interface. I have corresponding applications icons for all the application icons in the first pic. I could tell you what button to push or icon to click to get to all of the other screens, this could almost be a skin to Garnet. But of course, I can only really hope this new Linux version doesn't suck as much as Garnet. And I can only really really hope that they offer a ROM upgrade for my 755p...uh, not holding my breath on this one...

Oh, you got me, I *am* an Apple Fanboy, I thought that disclaimer would hide my rather unnatural attraction to the Big Apple (you know, Jobs' kind): I was wrong.
*shot for melodrama*
Anyway, yeah, from what I've heard, Palm isn't too good on these software updates, causing users' phones to malfunction (something with messaging, I believe).
That aside, platform is only as good as the phone's design, itself. A phone can have all the features in the world but if it's butt ugly, it ain't going no where. And with Palm's design team, that's a distinct possibility. I mean, we're happy that Palm *finally* removed the external antenna; what the hell is this? At this rate, we're gonna have to wait another three years (if the company is still alive, of course) to get some "smexii," thin Treos.
