Motorola shows shots of the Q9m for Verizon
Just in case there was any doubt that Motorola's Q9m for Verizon was real, well, this should put it to rest. Moto dropped a handful of press shots of its CDMA-ified Q9 the other day, including this one of the Windows Mobile 6 Standard -- that's "Smartphone" in WM5 nomenclature, if you recall -- handset in some sort of protective case (at least, we hope that's what it is). Thinking back to the amount of time that elapsed between the RAZR MAXX Ve's press shot release and its eventual launch, we could still be in for a bit of a wait -- but at least it's real, yeah?

Is that a forward facing camera beside the speaker or just a light sensor?
Looks more like a light sensor.

Verizon is sure pushing a lot of Motorola and Windows phones of late.
wow. looks like they're ripping off "the fan" from comcast.net
nothing like trying to cram a ROUND UI into a SQUARE screen. why lear from other's mistakes when you can just copy them?
@Elias C., that is the light sensor to adjust the back light. Still it is rumored to be a warmed version of the existing Q with WM6 so other than the OS upgrade the existing Q owners should be getting its not much.
Also rumored is a updated version called the Q9c that is supposed to match more closely the specs of the Q9(h) on AT&T.
Usually with the Motorola CDMA phones version M is better than version C
That's right guys! Now you can get your favorite Verizon UI on Windows Mobile phones too!
Though Verizon did give Alcatel-Lucent $6billion to develop an IP network based on EVDO RevA for Video Calling (among other things)

Hmmmm.. It seems it's windows mobile 6 with a Verizon Home screen. Which I like, considering that monstrosity that is the windows mobile 5 home screen.
This phone looks nice, as long as you aren't stuck with a Verizon-branded UI.
I guess you missed the part in the article that obviously stated it has WM6...
Which will mean no WM6 upgrade for Q users. If you want WM6, you'd have to buy a new device. $$$
OS aside, this new Q will be much better than the old one. Any old Q users should WANT this one regardless of the WM6 upgrade.
the above comment was meant to be a reply to ppcmd's comment. stupid broken reply system
Great another new phone to buy.
I know it's WM6 but I'm sure Verizon found a way to screw with it somehow and work there own UI in, atleast to some degree, they always do.

i've had a chance to use the phone for a bit ... a bit on the heavier side if you compare it to tmobile dash .. but that was my perception .. WM6 std .. verizon homescreen .. nothing too spectacular .. just a new design and a new os but essentially motorola Q .. buttons feel too cramped up though .. and yea its a light sensor (top right corner)... the jog wheel was quite tactile ..
