Motorola i425 walkie talkie phone for Boost Mobile
Where Motorola pulled this one from we'll never know, but Irvine based Boost Mobile is soon to start distributing the i425, which is apparently the world's thinnest walkie talkie phone. Besides being one of the best looking Motorola phones in a while, the i425 features GPS, instant messaging, and is crafted out of 100% recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate material (whatever that is.) Before you go off and start extolling the virtues of the "new Moto," realize that one essential feature is missing from the phone. So, we ask you Motorola / Boost Mobile, why no Bluetooth?

Definitely a step in the right direction.
umm... anyone else notice tiny screen? i'd like to know why no bluetooth, but more so, why no (decent) screen?
C'mon, EndadgetMobilers, be nice. Like Jorge said, this is a step in the right direction. Yes, the screen is small and bluetooth is missing, but Boost is aimed mainly at average tweens, people more concerned with a phone's look than its functions (e.g.: the spectrum of RAZR).
I think it is very promising that they've made this. I couldn't see them *not* making a a "good" thin phone, but it's a good start. However, the fact that their release of this marginal albeit good-looking phone makes news is sad. This is what happens when ONE manufacturer, Motorola, patents a cellular technology (iDen): innovation isn't needed because you control it completely (minus those BlackBerries, those big-assed, outdated, so-old-looking-Jesus-might've-used-it Blackberries).
Well this is all good but Why only for boost? What about ol' down and out Sprint? There is nothing even close to slim on the Nextel side of sprint. Alll of their current "hybrid" phones suck as bad as the previous ones. There is NO originality or updated features or styles. Anyway, it is a setp albeit a tiny one.
I think that their is no bluetooth because honestly no one that I know with a boost uses bluetooth.
when does it come out???
exact date???
I have been arguing with the Boost/Motorola Customer Service reps all month. I received two newsletters from Boost stating that the release date was the 1st of Sept., then another saying that it was set for the 14th. No retailer seems to know what I'm talking about (and many of the reps seem to be clueless as well...). If anyone gets any info, please let me know...
yeah i know...... i called moto and they don'y know what i am talking about.... i went to best buy and got the phone but now i can not find nothing for it
Funny how Boost's previous most-expensive phone had Bluetooth. But the i885 is about as thick as my i855 (and believe me, it's thick).
Good to see there are some slimmer iDEN phones hitting the market.
Saw this at Target 09/25/07
Looked Nice... Your right, small screen
this phone is available, my husband is in the process of buying two of them. The screen is very small but I don't need the screen to talk. No bluetooth because it would not work with the walkie talkit feature, there would be too much of a drag in activating the speaker.
As for the person that had something to say about the blackberry, I agree partly, I do not like the ones that are out now. I still have mine that I bought 3 years ago.. I still use it, it's great and looks good to me as well. I have the 7100T, it looks a lot better than the ones now.
Messrs. viewers want to buy a i425
