Verizon getting Motorola RAZR 2 V9m on August 29?
How refreshing is this? Despite initial promises of September for its own version of the V9m, it now looks like Verizon will be offering up the hotly anticipated (or at least Motorola wants it to be hotly anticipated) successor to the RAZR starting August 29 on the 'nets. That'll apparently be followed by an in-store launch on September 4, giving Sprint just about the shortest exclusivity period ever. AT&T, we don't suppose you have any August surprises for us too, do ya?

that's cute....however i'm paitiently waiting the i760....i'll take an early release on that please
Too bad any phone using Verizon's "special" firmware ruins the whole point of having the phone at all.
I have the RAZR v3m right now from Verizon and the functions and UI of the damn phone look exactly like the ones you'll find from free phones from Verizon. They even disabled Bluetooth OBEX! WTH
NEVER AGAIN, VERIZON.
ZOMG! Without OBEX everything else is teh uber worthless!! 2 mp cam, mp3/wma/mpeg-4 playback, reliable network, A2DP BT as well as OBEX to computer and DUN, and the large external screen are all WORTHLESS with OBEX!!!! OMG!!!
And no, the cheapest of the cheap phones at VZW DO NOT have the same UI as the one on the v3m, stop making stuff up.
Yes, they do have the same UI. I used to work at the damn VZW store.
Nope. They sure don't. The current cheap bin at VZW consists of the Samsung U340, LG-VX3400/3450, Nokia 2366, and Motorola W315. Guess what? Not a SINGLE ONE of them have the standard VZW UI!! What'dya know, I was right all along!
This is true. This device release is a particularly painful one. No new functionality at all, the other versions of this will have software that goes with the razr2 concept to give you html browsing and a smarter experience. Of course not happening with VZW. Same reason iPhone didn't and won't happen on it. Also because VZW won't step to the competition with it's data pricing-- unlimited non-tether EVDO access is unconditionally $15/mo on sprint. You can only access this price point on dumb-phones via Vcast on VZW and so the phones will remain as dumb as possible.
"unlimited non-tether EVDO access is unconditionally $15/mo on sprint."
Yep, same price as VZW.
No, the $15 access you are referring to is if you'd like to add tethering to your smartphone, after you pay for $40-45 data access. If you want to tether your dumbphone, be ready to pay $59.99 with no respect to the vcast or premium data plans you might already have. You can pay $15 on sprint for the power vision data package with dumbphones or smartphones to get hooked up to web, email, and vod/mod on the device. We're talking about a $30 price difference for smartphone data access before we start talking about tethering.
Is there any update on the Razr 2 from Verizon? It never showed up yesterday. Thanks!
It's availablo on line on Verizon's website, but not in stores yet
