I have performed the upgrade on my Vodaphone Treo 750v and am now successfully running WM6.
Notes: 1. The upgrade software is available only to registered Palm customers. You can download the software only ONCE.
2. Had some problems during the install - my PC refused to recognise my device after the device rebooted. Was successful on the 5th time (I am a patient man after all..)
New Features: 1. Now I can send contacts as vCards - last time had to edit a contact and copy out and paste the mobile number into a SMS text message.
2. Overall perforance is much faster and less buggy. No more frequent soft resets or unplugging of battery.
3. Windows Word Mobile - faster handling of large text and Word docs (1 MB above). It makes for a more enjoyable experiece when reading ebooks or long reports.
4. Less hogging of internal memory. Feels like there's some sort of more efficient memory cache management running around somewhere.
Concern: My phone software version remains at 1.15-VFE (no change even after upgrade though the look and feel is WM6)
“The HD2 is a magnificent monster. It is a hulking, intimidating, massive slab of a gadget. If you think the device looks big in photos, it's nothing compared to how it seems up close.”
