So yeah, we talked to Nokia today about that
iPhone knockoff of theirs. Turns out they totally neglected to mention that they were trying to show off the iPhone-esque
software,
not the iPhone-esque
hardware. The concept they were driving at is they want to take Symbian S60 into the wonderful world of touchscreen, and that kind of input system they demoed could show up on any form factor device. Why they decided to show off said S60 touchscreen software on a total ripoff of the iPhone (and not, say, on some mockup N-series device) is a little less clear, but it certainly made for some hilarious fodder this morning. Seriously though, don't forget to
check the video, you can almost hear the soothing sounds of the iPhone ad mandolin playing.
what about that - balda has won a contract for 6-8 millions touch screens, like those they make for iphone, from an unnamed, but very big company. is that nokia?
:)

hahaha but even the interface is clearly a rip-off of the iPhone one. Even if they did demo it on an N95 or even that new N-Series tablet with the slide-out keyboard, it's still very iPhone-esque.
They kill Series 80, which had touchscreen to begin with, to make another version of Series 60, now with Touchscreen? All because of the iPhone?
Nokia is going down the tubes.
Actually, Series80 (on the Nokia Communicators) did not have a touchscreen. Series90 (on the Nokia 7710) had touch-screen support. Series90 was killed off after one model, however it seems that UI design from Series90 flowed into the Nokia Internet Tablers (Maemo UI for linux). Series80 was killed to make Series60 mainstream, and make S60 be the end-all-and-be-all of Nokia smartphones: business, entertainment, casual smartphone user.
One UI and OS is better than three incompatible ones.
Told You engadget was wrong. Like always the Assume and me an ass of themselves.
Talking about making an ass of oneself, what version of English do you call that? I've heard more coherent sentences from patients with dementia...seriously.

Now, back to phones, on your other post, you said this was a fake. The article clearly points out that their mistake was thinking Nokia was showing off hardware, when they were just showing off (kick ass) software. That was a *real demo*, just not on an official phone.
Why to people feel so good to prove the staff at Engadget wrong?....seriously, seems like you people have self-esteem issues.
Just so some of you should know, iPhone itself is a rip off from many different technology combine into one so iPhone has no right to call others a rip off.
Even the protection lock on the iPhone for AT&T is a technology used by Japanese cell phone long time ago.
For such a simple case design, it is hard to avoid similarity to other phones.
In the end, the customers are the winners because they have more than one choice to pick what they want. :)
I think the sentence you are complaining about is a play on words from the old saying that "assume" makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me"...because of making assumptions....
Anyway, I think it is encouraging that there is an additional product from a different designer even if the manufacturer of a major component of the produce is the same, because Apple puts out great looking products but sometimes the products might not satisfy everyone's functional needs, (or even work the way everyone wants them to but who forgets that the products dont because they are still hyped up on the cool design.)
oh what ever!!!! the i-phone's design is so stupid whats so smart about it its a black square nothing more, yeah it has some VISUAL interface mojo but why would any device that is square--ish (regardless of the software it is baring ) be an i-phone rip off!!! well the i-phone itself is a rip off of LG's KE850 Prada theres nothing to rip from any of those designs , what are they supposed to make a circular mobile phone or a triangular one ?? give it a rest if Nokia makes a S60 touch sensitive device it will be design wise very hot and functionality wise it will kill the iphone
its NOKIA
