A match made in hell: Microsoft eying RIM?
A completely unsubstantiated rumor floating among day traders has RIM stock up a pretty penny today, suggesting that Microsoft may be looking to acquire Waterloo's finest in response to Google's meddling in the mobile space. At this point, pundits seem to be merely saying that it "makes sense," not that they've actually caught wind of anything substantial -- but we're kinda hoping Microsoft doesn't get any ideas here. We're not seeing Microsoft pushing a non-Windows Mobile based platform onto licensees any time soon -- particularly one that relies as heavily on Java as the BlackBerry OS does -- and a BlackBerry-branded device running Windows Mobile makes about as much sense as a Mac running Wind... oh, wait.

So there are two things that can come into being if this goes through...
1. MS can influence the Blackberry design (hardware and software).
2. Blackberry can influence MS design.
God, please let it be 2. Don't let MS shit up the Blackberry.
Oh good god, no!
Keep it the way it is now! RIM is innovative, and makes great products. Microsoft... not so much.
Yeah honestly, I just read this headline and cringed heavily. I recently had a Treo 700P replaced with a BB 8830 by Verizon and I absolutely love the thing. I DREAD Windows Mobile and don't want MSFT messing up a good thing.
Seriously, if this happens I don't know what I'll do. I hate WM6 and I hate Windows. Hopefully this is just a rumor, if this were to happen...wow, now I can't stop thinking about how horrible this will be.
Wait a minute... if you were running a Treo 700P, you weren't running Windows anywhy. Are you sure you're dissing on the right OS?
If this happens, I will drop my Blackberry faster than you can say iPhone.
I think someone's trying to pump the stock.
this really sucks. i love my blackberry but I don't like the windows mobile crap.
This is absolute nonosense! The rummor is totally for the stock manipulation of RIMM for options. You think Bill Gates would be as stupid to buy RIMM for 45 billion? When he can have a steal to buy Palm who actually uses Windows Mobile for 1.5 billion?
i personaly think this can go both ways, it can either be a bright idea or stupidity to fullest. im windows mobile users, and also had a blackberry before i came a wm user. a actually looking to get back into bb world since they now have media :D and i like it but i hate the lack of innvation withh windows mobile, if they were to actually come together and make some-what a new platform all together, or totally revamp window mobile completely, and PLUS incude push email, which im sure it will. so i guess its a stupid good idea. if that makes sence.
