The iPhone hacks couldn’t be coming at a better time. As iPhone users travel in and out of ATT coverage, they may get hit with a nasty surprise. My brother spent about 10 days of July in Canada, with his iPhone. Yesterday his ATT bill arrived - $3,000! To see the whole story: A box I could live with, the $3,000 iPhone bill I could live without. It will be interesting how ATT resolves this and other issues. The interesting thing he had been on a North American plan from Cingular/ATT for the last 3 years, it allowed for roaming in the US, Canada and Mexico for free.
I just spent 10 days in the Dominican Republic. I got back yesterday. I wasn't stupid enough to not check how much roaming will cost and rack up minutes/charges. Funny b/c the same thing happened to my brother over a year ago when they were still Cingular. As soon as his contract was up, he switched.
