T-Mobile inexplicably brings back MDA
So, we imagine it went something like this: some dude at T-Mobile USA's headquarters was crawling through the attic. Maybe he was looking for some classic Jamie Lee Curtis promo shots to throw up on eBay, maybe he was seeking out a replacement battery for his trusty Ericsson T68; the purpose of his adventure is pretty irrelevant. Anyway, he stumbles upon this giant flippin' stash of dusty MDAs. You know, HTC Wizards -- the things T-Mobile sold back in the day before the Wing reigned supreme. What's a company to do? They can't rightfully dump 'em in the local landfill, it just wouldn't be right. May as well sell the whole lot off for a song ($79.99 apiece, to be exact) on the corporate website! If you simply must get in on this circa-2005 action, we might recommend you do it soonly 'cause there's really no telling how long these relics are going to be available the second time around.

Wasn't that exactly what Apple did with several thousand Lisa's in the late 80s?
It's out of stock now.
Just to give heads up to people...
When the SDA was brought back and was given out for free (with a 2 year contract), right when the TMo Dash came out, replacements for the SDA was the TMo Dash. Meaning if you called TMo and genuinely have problems with the device and have had it replaced a few times, TMo would replace it with a phone with similar functions which for the SDA case is the TMo Dash.
I would assume if you shelled out $70 bucks for this relic and have problems (which I had quite a few) TMo might replace it with a Dash, some form of a BlackBerry, or a Wing.
Recently I had a string of bad luck with the refurbished MDAs they kept sending me as replacements, that they finally gave up and gave me a new BlackBerry 8800.
So this isnt a bad deal because if the MDA starts breaking down and you get it replaced enough you might get a phone that is worth a lot more than you paid in the beginning. Either way though, the MDA was an awesome phone which I still do miss. As great as the Wing is, it is overpriced for a MDA that just went to fat camp IMO.
Response to AT&T's pending launch of HTC "Tilt"?
I don't understand why, rather than, y'know, linking to the material in question, Engadget writers prefer to link to Engadget keyword searches so that we can read all about the Engadget articles of yore instead of finding the $79.99 MDA deal. Why? The MDA is out of stock on t-mobile.com. Is there some other hidden corporate site?
Maybe they link to engadget stuff cuz it's uh --just a stab in the dark here-- an engadget article. Tmo/HTC is already gettin the free advertising of this news simply being posted for all to see in the first place. And engadget probly figures ppl aren't too lazy to actually lift their hands off the mouse and find the site themselves.
or you could just hit the read link at the bottom just like every other engadget post
Out of stock... too bad, I wanted to play with different ROMs...
