Virgin Mobile intros Super Slice, its first Bluetooth phone
Would ya believe Virgin is just now getting down with that whole Bluetooth fad? No, seriously, it's true, and it has a name: Super Slice. As the moniker implies, the 10.2mm thick candybar is the successor to last year's Slice, a phone also sourced from UTStarcom. Features include a VGA cam, up to 270 minutes of talk time, speakerphone, a fresh user interface, and a refreshing price: $59.99 contract free (Virgin's prepaid, after all) when it rolls out to shelves in the middle of the month.

Man, VGA is pretty old-school too. :)
and the next rendition? the super-duper slice?
What's weird is that Virgin Mobile Canada has had phones with Bluetooth for quite a while now.
finally, bluetooth
VirginMobile.ca has had bluetooth phones for a while. Unfortunately my attempts thus far to persuade my son's new Nokia 6275i to take a JAD or JAR MIDlet have failed. Still, you gotta like the $13 CDN (~13 US yet?) per month is a reasonable rate.
I’ve purchased 2 of the Super Slice telephones and the text messaging feature on both has not worked properly since I received the telephones. Duplicate, tripclicate, and sometimes as many as 15 - 20 copies of a text message will be sent from my Super Slice telephone. I’ve received 2 replacement Super Slice telephones from VM but the problem remains. I’ve been told by VM that it’s a server/networking issue. It’s been more than 3 weeks now and I remain unable to text message (in or out) on either Super Slice telephone without my text messages duplicating.
worst phone ever! seriously.
tho only have had two, that's two too many!
i bought to replace my slice (tho clunky software, i dropped and broke so i needed one) and seriously, never had worse experience.
it locked up (froze) requiring battery removal to restart three times first nite, then next day two times while txting.
so exchanged for new one. and just now started locking up while txting. freezes and requires battery removal, restart.
clearly a total design/software flaw... with THE PHONE not network.
totally avoid until some indication they fixed it.
and the virgin mobile tech guy said he hadn't heard any bad feedback. either they aren't getting any feedback or people are clueless. this phone is simply a complete disaster!
