Verizon customers manage to sneak in, receive Samsung i760 orders

Golly, it's been so flippin' long since this thing was supposed to come out, we'd kinda forgotten about it! We kid, we kid -- it's not every day that Samsung comes out with a creative new Windows Mobile 6 Professional device, particular stateside, and we're as excited as anyone to see examples of the i760 start to find their way into patient buyers' hands. Rumor has it it's not supposed to be released until September 24, but folks have had luck calling Verizon directly and asking for the device by SKU (seriously, how hard is it to get everyone on the same page?). It'll run $519.99 full retail, with a two-year contract earning you a more manageable price of $399.99 before a $50 mail-in rebate. Be sure to spill the gory details of your efforts to evade the 9/24 official drop date in comments!

I would much rather have this Samsung, over my mogul. For one, HTC makes lousy telephonic devices, I admit, neat PDAs, but the voice quality blows.

Tried it again, got a different rep. Gave her the SKU, ordered the phone, vehicle charger, holster with NE2 and ADD. She had to check with her supervisor who said if the computer lets them do it, then do it. Originally, she had no idea that the phone existed, but processed my order with no problem. Final price with free shipping was ~ $260.

i've seen the dummy for the i760 and it looks nice, the buttons feel awesome, and has a good feel. also seen the 6800 dummy, it looks cool but the color(ewwww!) and it doesn't look to much like the mogul, the mogul for sprint looks better, but i just might have to wait till the i760 comes out, cause the HTC/UT Starcom6800 is ugly looking..... looks like throw up blue for vzw

actually, I'm returning my iPhone....interface is amazing,totally revolutionary....but....email sucks, AT&T coverage is horrible where i am, and edge is like going back to to dial-up,, compared to ev-do

I don't give tips anymore to anyone except one person on Engadget because I've posted tips only to see 3 days later a BGR linked tip.. Boy Genius kinda reminds me of a Simpsons' Episode where they said Maggie was a genius, only to find out that she was getting her answers from Lisa. got mine yesterday - i feel so loved... the device really rocks - it is really living up to the hype. - not quite as easy to use in txt mesging mode as the LGV or En-V but the capabilities FAAR outweigh it - i will post pics and video soon - the 2 batteries are great - even the standard battery lasts a long time - but the extended battery (1500MH) is barely bigger than the standard - very nice job Samsung!

I just received this from our corp support folk who test devices for compliance with MS Exchange policy:
"According to Verizon, due to a (big) mistake in a New England shipping center, the i760 was shipped to a few small customers. That's how photos got on the blogs. But the device has NOT launched yet.

They don't have any available for demo yet, but should have one soon (hopefully in a few weeks)." I hope its less than a few weeks.
