Not really a good solution for Australia though, eventually. Only Telstra has an EDGE network, and they have claimed not to want the iPhone. Vodafone and Optus have spent so much money promoting their HSPDA network i don't see them adding EDGE just for the iPhone. And 3 is totally unable to use the iPhone because they have no GSM network, only HSDPA.
So we would get GPRS, AND wifi hotspots here are few and far between.
