The AT&T Tilt, October 5 for $299.99
Bringing all of the HTC Kaiser's joy to AT&T, the Tilt has finally been set for an October 5 launch. Besides the obvious feature of a tilting display -- hence the name -- the spec sheet reveals a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, HSDPA, stereo Bluetooth, Windows Mobile 6 Professional (the first AT&T device to officially rock it -- can ya believe it?), microSDHC slot for cards up to 32GB, WiFi, an integrated GPS receiver, and BlackBerry Connect support. Last time we checked, that pretty much covers the "superphone" checklist. Grab it starting Friday for $299.99 on contract after the full suite of rebates has been applied. Follow the break for a bonus shot of the Tilt in its upright and locked position!

I may leave Verizon now. Verizon keeps on sitting on its hands and has yet to release a WM6 phone with a touch screen. I've been waiting for the SCH-i760, but this basically makes it obsolete.
I heard a rumor the XV-6800 has failed Verizon testing. If I don't hear anything to contradict that by Friday at whatever time the AT&T store opens, I will be jumping ship and getting a Tilt.
ACTUALLY.... the SCH-i760 and the xv6800 should/will be coming out mid Oct-early Nov. Believe me...not much longer!
That must be the first thing they teach the new Verizon CS reps... "no, really, trust me -- we'll have some really sweet phones out in, umm, a couple of months so just, uh, be patient and... and... uh... it's the network!"
I wonder if the GPS will be gimped such that you can't use non-AT&T GPS apps?
This looks like finally, the mythical phone that has it all. Any Kaiser users out there, how is the battery life?
Pre-release users on xda-developers have claimed it's not locked. But they could be lying... we'll know in a few days.
Confirmed! Not locked!

"I tested the GPS in three different software environments, those being the trial software included TeleNav, Google Maps, and Windows Live Search."
AT&T only puts TeleNav (according to CNET) so the Google Maps and Windows Live Search is 3rd party software.

btw, $299 with Mail in Rebate
Ugh, i'm sorry to spam this but, AT&T Tilt does have HSUPA.
3.5G (HSDPA/HSUPA), Unlocked GPS, microSDHC, Touchscreen, WM6 with Windows Mobile Office (Pocket Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Keyboard, 3MP Camera, MiniUSB port 4.4 hour 3G talktime, 7 hour GSM talktime, quadband gsm, triband hsdpa, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0
i'm picking one up asap. does anybody know if a data plan is required for the $299 + MIR
So does this mean the Kaiser DOESN'T have HSUPA because that's what the one month of delay by at&t maybe was to fix?
I don't understand the 32GB limit. Is that just an indication of current max, or will 64GB MicroSDHC cards not work (or are they not even technically possible)?
What is this obsession with giant screens? I had enough trouble keeping the tiny display on my Nokia 6010 clear and scratch-free.
Yeah that's right, a Nokia 6010. I'm old school. (and cheap)
HSUPA is on both Kaiser and Tilt..it's built into the Processor. A Software upgrade will awaken it from it's slumber, especially considering that Most of europe is Launching HSUPA by the end of the year, HTC will most likely make a software upgrade allowing for HSUPA speeds...
Anybody know if there is a chance that T-Mo has plans to pick up the Kaiser/TyTnII/Tilt anytime in the coming months? This is a phone-tastic device, but I really don't like me the AT&T.
(And I do know I can pick one up unlocked for T-Mo, but I must have misplaced that extra $800 that was around here earlier...)
I would love to know more about T-Mobile picking up this phone as well, I REALLY have no love for ATT?Cingular. I really like this phone but not $800 worth to get the unlocked version.
I hate Verizon...just for the record. I hope they just skip the 6800...its already out of date.
If AT&Ts network didn't suck so bad around here I'd jump on this TILT. If it had a VGA screened I'd commit Verizon suicide and be over at AT&T.
Yeah, I agree. If this thing had a VGA screen, I'd really be tempted to switch to AT&T. And I hate AT&T with the intensity of 1,000 suns.
vga = 480x680
Qvga = 240x320
Twice the pixels = more battery drain
Anyone wanna buy a used 8525?
This will be awesome. WM6 that runs smooth.
I just got the 8525... And I'm well within the 30day return period. SWEET! BTW- I LOVE the 8525.
Can anyone tell me which version this is? I (expectedly) don't see the forward facing cam on here... but the 3.1 is still in the back right... cuz I know the Kaiser 100 doesn't come with it... but the Kaiser 110 does. (Kaiser 120 includes both). Can anybody shed some light on the current situation?

Yea I agree this thing has it all - except VGA. I would pay the bucks and switch to ATT if this had VGA, otherwise everything else is great!
This is great. It's on AT&T's site. It even has its own nice little landing page.
But... um... the picture that goes with it is of an 8525 (as of right now).

I keep on calling the stores and the stupid a** associates dont even kno the phone...i dont understand...how could u work 4 the company and not no the relase of the best phone they have 2 offer....can sumone tell me if im going 2 be able 2 walk into the store and pick oneup 2 mo cause im becoming very inpatient.....
P.S.
THIS PHONE IS THE SUPERPHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you 10 years old? I think this toy is a little too expensive for you.
I seriously thought i was the only one, called 3 times and they asked me what the manufacturer was, if it was an unlocked phone, and what the model was even though i kept telling them it was the tilt or 8925. one guy had to get someone else to help him look for it. hmm can we just walk in a store and pick it up???
Well, as an AT&T employee, I have had my eye on this phone for some time now. I actually had a customer who wanted the 8525 (she saw it on the wall), but I told her to wait a day for the Tilt. Don't diss all of us based on a few douches.
i noticed this may have blackberry support, I hope that isn't necessary if i want this and a data plan thru at&t
I called around to a bunch of stores in Dallas. Some had no info for me, but one (Park/75) not only got 4 phones in, they allowed me to buy one a day early (on the evening of the 4th). And that store had the best customer service I've ever gotten in an AT&T/Cingular store. The phone is a little heavier and looks/feels smaller although I think its the same size. Feels solid though. And the GPS works great with Google Maps.
Called my local store, they don't have any in stock and didn't know when they'd get them in. The sales guy I talked to said "Well, I see it on our price sheet, so my guess would be before November 3rd."
The Mesquite, TX store called me. They got some in today too.
Out of stock in SF on Market St
Guys stay away form AT&T and Telenav and their deceptive practices.
Let me first say for "legal reasons" below is simply my opinion/impression you make your own call on whats going on but my mind is made up.
Telenav the AT&T preferred partner for GPS is apparently deceiving users into believing that they currently dont have a way to run their latest version on the AT&T 8525. There are loads of users complaining because their purchased the phones thinking they had the advanced features advertised by AT&T such as 3D maps and traffic information only to find out later AT&T was not telling the truth. Although their other versions included this functionality the version allowed on the AT&T 8525 was quite old without these features. All the while we were locked into a contract we cant get out of on top of buying a phone we cant take back. It recently came to my attention there was a download available marked for a different phone with the same hardware which worked. I downloaded it and installed and as I was told no problems at all. Works fine, tested all over no issues. I informed Telenav and was promptly warned not to mention this. As well now my original post has been deleted, even though they originally responded several times (I have the screenshots). They must have had some internal meeting on how to handle this "leak" and they decided to censor me. As well they have now deleted all related posts in their forum. Well, actually not deleted the post entirely, just removed any text in my post so it is now blank. My suspicion which they chose to dance around was there is a specific reason they are not providing the update and thats business decision between Telenav and AT&T. You see AT&T is releasing today the 8925, they upgraded version of the 8525. And while the hardware is virtually identical, it comes withe latest version of Telenav. It is my position that Telenav is purposly not releasing an update to the software which their customers were duped into purchased based on false advertisement because AT&T wants to force you to buy the new phone to get it. Very Sleezy in my opinion. i want to mare sure it is known that this type of practice will not be accepted my the mobile community and we will look to more respectable vendors for applications.
John - please check your facts before posting. The 8525 and Tilt 8925 are NOT identical in hardware. The 8525 runs on a STA 400 Mhz processor and does not have built in GPS. GPS functionality is obtained via BT and A BT GPS add-on accessory. The Tilt runs on a QCT 7200 dual core processor, has double the memory and has built-in GPS.
Question: did anyone promise you an upgrade for your Telenav?
I jus picked up my TiLt. Weight wise its the same as my Tmobile MDA but way faster. I'm just getting into the software but so far its been good. My ATT store here in southbeach only got 2. I was #1 to get one WooT. anyone wana buy a beat to hell gangsta ass mda?
It DOESN'T come with TouchFlo... I just bought the phone and that is a disappointment for me... NONE of the AT&T Tilt phones come with it...
NO TOUCHFLO
You need the HTC ROM in order to get touchflow. It takes about 2 minutes to do, head on over to www.xda-developers.com and HardSPL your Kaiser and then throw the HTC rom on there and you are set!
Also I didn't spend much time on the AT&T ROM but the HTC ROM has GPS working with Google Maps and iNav.
I tried one a local store today (unfortunately it was not fully set up so I couldn't try the internet access.) I really liked the virtual keyboard (reminds me of my Palm TX). It seems really neat but I would like to know if any of those of you who purchased one already would be willing to see if you can increase the font size of the menus, icons, etc. I wasn't able to find the right settings and the sales rep had not used the phone yet. Much obliged for the assistance, folks. Thanks.
i have been a happy user of the 8525 for a year. i love the device, the phone buttons are a bit of a pain to use... any advice from people more experienced? is the upgrade worth it?
Gorgio,
I have checked my facts, you should do the same. Qualcomm vs. Samsung, doesnt matter both ARM (they each license the ARM design). Thats like saying Intel x86 and AMD x86 are completely incompatible. They are virtually identical as they use the same base instruction set. Only differ in the apps eyes if you use the special extensions available only on that processor (i.e MMX). Telenav does not in my estimation. While I cant be 100% positive the fact it hasn't crashed a single time and I have used every function tells me even if it did it doesnt matter. Yes I was told I would get an upgrade. As was everyone else in the forums as well. Built in GPS has nothing to do with it either, they (Telenav) sold me their external nav to provide that capability. The complaint is on their software practice here, not on hardware. Wanna try again?
everything's great except for the removed front camera...
just to save a few bucks. Annoying as hell.
Im still trying to figure out what else did they take out.
So far, here's what i think the differences are between Tytn II and Tilt.
Tilt has..
1) No front camera
2) No touch flo
3) No business card scanner
Can we load TomTom software/Maps on this phone? Or do they have that locked as well?
So far, not really a big deal breaker....except for no touchflo.... I read above that this can be rememdied with HTC.rom? Im kind clueless about how to do that or do that fix....
anyways...im seriously considering buying the Tytn II ($800 version)... im just debating if it will be worth the extra $500 being unlocked.
Kinda nice when you're travelling...you can just buy a local sim card and pop it in...instead of paying roaming fees.
I have the AT&T Charter 1500 Plan. Can I use all the functions of the Tilt?
Guys
I just got my tilt today and looks good. Audio clarity is awesome. A bit bulky to carry in the pocket. No headphone jack.!!!
I signed up for the 39.99 unlimited data plan.
The phone shows Media.NET connection in the connection settings with GPRS,3G connection configured with wap.cingular.com acces point. Is this the regular data connection? Does it get covered in the unlimited data plan? or am I supposed to use another connection? Please let me know.
Also I heard that we can download maps to the system and then sync to the tilt throgh active sync. Is it? or do I need to download the maps directly to my tilt through data connection?
I appreciate any help
