AFP app turns iPhone into a hard disk
We thought the iPhone had already been mangled, twisted, and formed to do every bidding conceivable, but in case it hasn't been made crystal clear the thing's been busted completely and totally wide open, here you go: it's now nothing more than a hard drive. A clean slate, if you will, waiting to record whatever bits and bytes you care to push to it. It's all accomplished with a new little AFP server running on the iPhone (and the iPod touch too); the goods apparently aren't available in Installer.app yet so there's a little work involved getting it going, but for the simple pleasure of watching your handset appear as a mounted drive on your desktop, it just might be worth it, no? As TUAW points out, this all leads to one-drag app installs and device backups -- among other wonderful things -- so we'd have to put this on our short list. If we were jailbreaking iPhones and installing apps, that is. Which we may or may not be.

That's pretty sweet. I'm ready to see how apple will let us use the storage space on the iPhone in the next update.
Oh please. Apple would sooner call Rita to release the Putties on your ass before they give you the right to something you own...
(anyone get the Power Rangers reference there?)
you had me at Rita to release the Putties
(anyone get that movie reference?)
Condsidering the fact that iphone is a disaster in europe, it can better act as 'hard disk' or paper weight... The news from europe is that the intial sales was in 'hunderds of thousands', but then it was corrected to 'tens of thousands' .. don't know what would be next... come on... who will buy such an overpriced piece of 'Jobs' shit, which is technologically half a decade old...
Thats a tad harsh no? I mean i agree that the iPhone is just a toy or a "status phone" if you will. But its not a COMPLETE piece of shit, works wonders as a glorified iPod :p
Anyone get this to work with windows. I need to find a way into the phone via windows. Anyone??
