Apple looking to push ActiveSync onto iPhone?
We've reported rumors about this should-have-been-in-the-initial-offering feature since well before the iPhone's launch date and here we are, half a year down the road from iPhone day and we're still kludging along with IMAP support. All that may be set to change with Apple's recent job posting looking for an "iPhone Windows Outlook/Exchange QA Eng" in Cupertino. Of course, this new position may simply exist to help bolster the team working on the IMAP features in its "ongoing effort to improve your mobile mail experience" -- but we hope not. We're hoping that this will usher in the era of real push mail from Exchange on iPhone, and we'd be willing to bet the proverbial farm that there are a ton of others out there thinking the same.

it will never become true ... the reason is same as why there's no radio in iPod ... sheer stubbornness
Then why is Apple hiring an Exchange engineer?
the subtitle reads:
hackers trying to push exchange onto iphone AND ipod touch
As Luke said; 'NOOOOOOOOOO!'
But srsly, am I the only one here who doesn't want the iPhone to become the new BlackBerry? But hell, I said the same thing about the iPod and just look at what it's become... I guess I just like feeling special :p
That's stupid.
What does apple use for mail at their offices? This seems to be that every apple employee prefers IMAP?? I call BS on that. The "jesusphone" cannot even be put onto a corporate liable ATT account. Until you have enterprise or corporate billing dont expect enterprise mail.
I believe that they use Entourage or something that uses IMAP. I'm just a PC guy so I don't know for sure.
I'm also the Exchange admin at my work and it sure felt good to tell the guy with the iPhone who called and asked if IMAP was enabled on the Exchange server, "No."
It's a damn lie that all Apple employees are using BlackBerrys to communicate. They're using the top secret iPhone Corporate model that has all the features the IT people require. It's just that Apple is waiting to introduce it after the SDK is released.

Enjoy your free time now. IT people come and go and the iPhone is going to help promote some widespread IT personnel changes in the near future.
Um ActiveSync? Are you serious? Don't you mean like Full Exchange Server Push support or something. I personally like the fact that I can get my Contacts, Emails, Calendar, ToDo from anywhere even if my phone happens to hard-reset and I lose all my backups. But I doubt Apple is going to allow the iPhone to work with a buggy program like ActiveSync. I personally own a WM Dash and ActiveSync can be a real pain at times.

Its called Exchange ActiveSync..much different than the desktop ActiveSync you are talking about.
I think if the article just said Full Exchange Support or Exchange Push support, that would be more clear than ActiveSync.
