Steering wheel-mounted Bluetooth handsfree kit hits the FCC
We're not certain that your steering wheel is the best or safest place to attach a handsfree device, but those of you looking to up your Michael Knight factor might be interested in Seecode's new Wheel Bluetooth kit. Featuring a small screen and call-control buttons, the battery-operated unit allows you to chat away on speakerphone, send / end calls, and view your phonebook -- all while (hopefully) keeping your eyes on the road. No word on when these might be available, but check the read link for the usual riveting assortment of FCC docs.

Won't this obstruct your view of somewhat necessary gauge cluster? or is the picture upside down?
Looks like it grips around the steering wheel, and that upper part in the picture is what's on top of the wheel. Seems like minimal obstruction.
It would totally obscure my gauge cluster the way it is. That probably has to do with my car being a sports car, i sit so low that i see the gauge cluster through the steering wheel, but i imagine that in something like an SUV you might be able to see the gauges over the wheel? I forget now how other cars are...
But my real concern would be how it sounds when you're turning, and the top of the wheel is now in your lap instead of in front of you... Might be annoying if you're on a windy road or making lots of turns in the city...
