Helio Mysto now available to everyone
Following a limited release last month, Helio is now taking its slim, sexy Mysto slider from Samsung to the general public. Like every other phone currently in Helio's lineup, the Mysto has integrated GPS and a healthy dose of EV-DO data for the media-rich apps the MVNO and its members tend to be so fond of. Grab it today for $149 on contract or $320 without.

Looks like a cool phone.. but I'm unfamiliar with Helio.. it's its own cell provider? Would be cool to see this on Sprint or Verizon.
@aoeu00, Helio is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) that uses Sprint's network. You don't get free mobile to mobile to other Sprint customers, but you get all the other perks of using Sprint's network... Also I think Helio would provide customer service so you wouldn't have to deal with Sprint's issues (but I could be wrong on that...).
aoeu00: Helio is an MNVO that pays licensing fees to use the Sprint Network. Its actually a much better company IMH than everyone out there except t-mobile. They have unlimited EVERYTHING including text messaging & mulitimedia messaging & UNLIMITED minutes for only 99.00/month!!! Almost no one can beat that & their phone prices are reasonable with contract as well. Only issue is customer service & its only because they are a relatively new company. The service is not bad, they just don't know much yet because they haven't had adequate time to get trained. But it would be something to consider though. Hope this helps.
its just a u600 with helio branding... OLD news
Not really. Add 3G, GPS and all the Helio apps to the U600 and then you have something that looks like Mysto =)
Also, drop the camera from 3.2 MP to 2.0 MP, remove the autofocus, and make the phone several millimeters thicker. A U600 it ain't.
I was excited for the Mysto, but was let down for the reasons above. And, rather than want to wait another six months just to see the next phone Helio would bring out (which I probably wouldn't like either), I jumped ship and picked up a Centro.
I used to be optimistic about Helio, but now I'm not so sure. I know they want to push their own Helio UI, but targeting tech enthusiasts and then not offering a true smartphone just seems counterintuitive. I was really hoping that they'd pick up the F900 Ultra Smart as an Ocean successor, because that "semi-smartphone" just seemed perfect for Helio, but they let Verizon get it instead (where it's rather redundant, next to the Voyager).
Oh, and Pete: I would rather have Sprint's CS than Helio's. And that's just sad. Helio CS is infamous for, among other things, not allowing customers to port their numbers out. (I'm *this* close to getting all Better Business Bureau on their ass.)
