iPhone v1.1.3 causing major issues with SMS message order?
Apparently, a lot of iPhone users are experiencing issues related to out of order SMS conversations. [Thanks Mark and Sean]
What's the deal, have you seen this? Shout it out in comments.
A lot of people were pretty damned stoked about the SMS improvements Apple unleashed upon iPhone owners yesterday with firmware v1.1.3, but it's not all turning up roses.

I have had nothing but trouble with SMS since the update to 1.1.3. Nothing is in the correct chronological order.
connect with ssh then issue command
chmod 777 /var/db/timezone
restart iphone
hopefully "timezone freeze" lets go
Hagge10 what are you talking about? have you fixed the sms wrong order? I have that problem also, and it is SO annoying.
it is happening for me...
Mine are working fine. Although I did have a problem with the update the first time around.
so far so good on my end. Update has been good for me so far... :D
No problems here =)
I have had a few SMS conversions with 1.1.3 so far and I have had no problem.
all good with 1.1.3 here, it's a very nice little upgrade.
No problems here! Of course, i don't HAVE and iPhone...

yeah wth i mean they fix some thing and mess others up come on apple dont make me lose hope in yall so fast
the iphone i syour test to me and i do like it dont be like microsoft
OTA Exchange support would make SMS irrelevant
The corporate types will buy more iphones in a month than they have
sold to date.
No they wouldn't. Even if they did have Exchange OTA, there would be more people buying BlackBerry devices because A) they have a keyboard, B) its easy to copy and paste data from one email to another on a BB, and C) BB push email is already a baseline for corporate mobile email. Giving iPhone Exchange OTA will sell a few more to some companies, but BlackBerry and WM with their push technology pretty much has iPhone beat in a number of categories.
I've had the problem ever since I upgraded. I pay $40 a month to get unlimited text, and I make good use of it. Ever since I upgraded to 1.1.3, I've had problems with the text order. I was just confused at first, then I thought they were putting the more recent ones on top to make it closer to the "call" and "contact info" buttons, the I realized it wasn't. It like...scrambles the messages randomly. They're not even in the same order that they were the time I read them last... I don't get it. Why are only some of us seeing the problem? Seriously, I'm paying more money than most iPhone users, and I get slapped for making use of it?? No thanks. And I can't go back to 1.1.2, so I'm stuck until Apple fixes it. I'm flat out ticked. And from what I've read, those of us experiencing the problems are in the minority. If that's the case, Apple might not understand soon enough to satisfy customers. This is really the only true and obvious bug I've ever seen in the iPhone since I picked it up last September.... I'm disappointed....
I am having this problem too. I noticed it happen a couple times today.
a lot of apple fanboys rack microsoft for releasing things with bugs left in them... ahem.
Don't know about SMS, but my e-mail stopped working after I upgraded...that pretty much sucks.
No SMS issues (though I haven't sent many), but I do seem to have a problem with internet -- it just doesn't want to connect sometimes. Unless I restart...
Brian you can go back to 1.1.2, all you need is a copy of the 1.1.2 ipsw (iphone software) on your machine. It may still be in your itunes folder, if not a trip thru the Google should get you a download either from Apple or from a site like version tracker. Once you have the ipsw, dock your iphone and hold the shift (MS) or option (OSX) key then click restore on the iphone screen of itunes. This will let you select what file to restore from. At this point select the desired ipsw, in your case 1.1.2 and go thru the restore process. Your backup is contained in a different file so the only change should be the SW level. I know this is a proven method for going from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 so unless Apple killed this functionality in the new itunes release you should be good to go.
Chris Gill, I had to get on Gmail and update my IMAP settings before my email worked again. The error it gave me before I changed the online setting was something about cannot connect to server. If you are using yahoo or other IMAP mail you might need to delete the current account on your iphone and set it up once again.
Cheers

....you probably should've replied to them instead of me. And here I was thinking you could make my iPhone's internet behave.
I have noticed that it does that. I just thought that is was acting up but now I know that I'm not alone.
I have the same problem. It is so annoying. Apple better fix this problem soon or else I am going to be so pissed. Text conversations make no sense when you go back and look at them. I read elsewhere it is a timeing issue. THat the new software is using the clock from the device that sent the text which is a bit off from the clock on the phone to deicde the order of the text.
Either way it worked before and it needs to work now. I am pissed
No problems here. Apple made a great software update in my eyes. Sorry to hear about the other guys.
Thanks Apple!
