HTC's outrageously popular
Touch handset line hit the million sales mark in mid-November 2007, and now, just two months later, they've doubled that number. While HTC hasn't set a sales record with these sets -- including HTC Touch, Touch Slide, and Touch Color -- they've certainly found a product with a pile of fans who're eating up all that touchscreen fun. End of year sales goals were in the 1.5 to 1.8 million range, so this'll have a few sales types grinning wealthier grins. This kind of success screams "please make more, now" which gives us hope for the
QWERTY Touch.
Too bad the video driver issue with many of HTC's new handsets have not been resolved. There is a bit of a misunderstanding that the video driver issue affects the performance of all graphical rendering and use the GUI on the unit, not just video playback.
It's funny that this phone is so widely successful, especially considering i've never seen a single tv commercial for it. I'd still take this over the iphone any day.
Can we please have an HTC post w/o complaints about the drivers that only 10% care about and HTC will do nothing about? It's just getting annoying now.
no Dildo...because the people that dont care about the directdraw drivers and the overall sluggishness of this phone should not own this phone, they should own an iPhone.
fyreblazer: since you're likely part of the 10% that doesn't care, you should slot yourself somewhere else.
To Dave: No Need To Get Ugly And Call The Person A Dildo ... BONEHEAD!
@Dave,
Or they can own the Kaiser and have NO complaints because they can stream TV, use the GPS, and use all of the open source software for WM6 to customize their experience from xda devs.
While you're still crying for drivers the devs have moved on to porting the new WM 6.1 kernal to the Kaiser.
Call me all the names you want, but you lost.
youre a moron, it's everyone on XDA devs (including myself) thats bitching about how shitty the directdraw drivers are. But of course for ignorant/first time HTC owners that don't expect much, you have the fanboy attitude, which is exactly what xda devs is NOT about.
btw show me a video of a Kaiser streaming TV/any type of video without banding/striping in it and I will show you a device that is not a Kaiser
HTC Touch, Touch Dual, Touch Cruise.
Yes Touch, Not Slide, Not Color.
It's really sad that the iPhone actually outperforms these phones due to something as simple and mundane as a video driver. Why put good hardware in a device if there's no software to utilize it?
As a Tilt and 8525 owner, I don't care how many new devices they put out; until HTC can demonstrate that they care about customers and support current devices, they won't see another penny from me.
Also, to all those who try to put down people who care about this issue by calling us nerds or out-of-touch with the mainstream, keep in mind that we "nerds" are the primary consumers for most HTC devices. HTC markets these things as superphones; they should put their money where their mouths are.
