Video: Opera Mobile 9.5 redesign is lickity quick, slick

Bring it, we say. Opera Mobile 9.5 is prepped and (almost) ready for beta release. Version 9.5 is noticeably faster thanks to a re-engineered Presto rendering engine and features a new browser interface and downloadable Opera Widgets. A World Factbook widget pulls data from Flickr, Google Maps, and CIA World Factbook simultaneously. Opera was more than happy to compare their new browser with Microsoft's Internet Explorer Mobile to demonstrate the obvious -- IE mobile is cruel. Opera mobile 9.5 will see its first public unveiling starting February 11th at GSMA with a public Symbian, WinMo, and Linux beta expected soon. Click on through for the video.

Lol PIE hasn't really changed since wn2003... That's a shame.
Ha, LOL. You notice how when Steve Jobs is on stage and his chest expands and slowly contracts as he talks? I saw Steve Balmer do this at CES last month. They even copy his nuances! EVERYONE COPIES APPLE!
I love how everyone knocks off apple, even down to the video presentation. Still the opera mobile if it delivers what it says, will remove one of the main advantages of the iphone. Bring on the competition......
Yes.. cause apple was the first person to put a person on video talking. I love how people think apple does stuff first and others rip off apple.

I swear you Apple fanboys are the stupidest to ever walk this Earth.
Brandon: FU
You dorks that live in your mamma's basement and keep supporting the Winblows machine are the real idiots. You'll swallow whatever piece of OS crap that Gates throws at you and spend hours and hours patching and upgrading it. Have fun with Vista. As long as it's around anyway. They are quickly sweeping it out the door and working day and night to push you out another POS OS to slow down your PC's.
I can't believe this is turning into an Apple VS PC debate... wow.
Anyway, Opera has always been my favorite mobile browser, and I'm pretty psyched to see such nice improvements to an already great piece of software.
How on Earth did it become a Appl vs msft thread when Apple is not mentioned in the article???
fanboys
Because Apple fanboys are proving themselves to be completely retarded.
I was using Opera on my Psion Series 3 - like - 10 years ago. Opera rocks!
But...so far, Opera 9.x is pure vapor.
Video proves nothing. I'll believe when it's running on my Tilt.
Jason and Ayle:
You have a good point. It seems that EVERY thread points back to a "versus" Apple topic no matter what the subject. If Apple and it's products are such the non-threat to Windows as it's made out to be, I wonder why everything keeps getting compared Apple products?? Personally, I think there is room in the world for both, but I get sick of the attacks on Apple. It's completely unnecessary. I don't have much love for Windows but understand why some use it.
(Can't afford Mac's)
Hee hee.. KIDDING!!!!
It usually turns into Mac vs. MS when someone who prefers Mac steps up and says that Mac does it better or Mac invented it and Ms is copying... irregardless of the true lineage
Simon
It is normally some apple fanboy that comes in and spouts off about how whatever is being covered in the article compares to the iphone, apple, steve jobs, etc. Look at the article for the nokia store or the one for the blackberry store. Someone pops in and compares it to the apple stores (which isnt comparable because apple is selling more than phones... but anways).
It gets old, 99% of apple's advantages boil down to style. All of their competitors have products that will do the same thing faster, better, etc, but the apple has the style. I mean look at the super thin macbook, that is a great looking computer. It costs out the rear to have that great looking computer. Unfortunately what most apple fanboys don't realize is that stylish tech doesn't equal better tech. Just because you figured out a different way to delete a file doesn't mean you revolutionized computers.
Style might be important to a portion of the phone, and computer world, and who would have thought that the target audience for mp3 players would like stylish ones (kudos to iPod saving Apple and Steve Jobs by the way). The vast majority of us could really care less if you have a good looking but not so smart, not so fast phone. Yay it does everything that a winmo/palm/blackberry did years ago. Welcome to the party, you're a bit late apple. Apple fanboys are getting ripped off paying top dollar for yesterdays tech and then they brag about it...
I want my Opera Mobile 9.5 :((((
Trooth,
You are wrong on every single one of your points. If you really believe that Mac is all looks and no performance, then you just haven't owned one. Comparing any system that uses a UNIX/Linux based operating system to that hunk of shite OS of Microsoft's is like comparing a brick house to a straw hut. MS is a buggy, virus ridden, bloated, overpriced piece that can't even compete with free OS'es like Ubuntu in power and performance. I think it's humorous when someone who supports a fascists and immoral company like Microsoft, who is publicly embarrassed by it's own work (Vista that they are sweeping under the rug ASAP) called Mac users FANBOYS. I may be a Mac fanboy but is that any better than being a Microsoft brainwashed drone?

We were talking about the Iphone fanboy, not Apple vs microsoft. This article is about Opera and you fanboys can't get out 3 sentences without bringing up Apple. Opera is in competition with Microsoft. There is absolutely no reason for you or any other Apple fanboy to come in here and start talking apple vs microsoft on this article as Opera has nothing to do with either company. But you FANBOYS have nothing better to do, and do so on 2/3 of the articles on this site. Give it a rest. I run Linux at home, I use Firefox, I'm not a microsoft fanboy, but my windows machine is fast, virus free, and runs just fine for my tastes because I know how to operate a computer. Apple is such a good company that they had to give and start using Intel technology and allow dual boot with windows xp, because their computer sales was horrid.
