RIM affirms that BlackBerry services are down -- again
Oh noes! BlackBerry addicts everywhere have reason to panic this afternoon, as their beloved network is indeed experiencing technical difficulties -- and it's certainly not the first time that this has happened in the past year. Reportedly, an e-mail sent by RIM support account manager Bryan Simpson affirmed that a "critical severity outage" had taken place. The message went on to say that it was acting as an "emergency notification regarding the current BlackBerry Infrastructure outage," that was (is) affecting enterprise subscribers and "users of the Americas network." So much for that "won't happen again" line, huh?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

So like, with Windows Mobile and Exchange 2007... tell me again why BlackBerry is better?
Maybe cause when you click to switch applications, the RIM OS actually switches applications. WinMo is simply slow and bloated for a phone OS.
Really? My fiancee has face way more problems with her VZW 8830 than I have with my AT&T Tilt. I guess that's a feature of the BB OS.
Having used both OS, I much prefer the BBerry OS to WinMo without hesitation. My 8830 was my first BBerry and I had the whole OS mastered within a week, customized the layout, got some nice 3rd party apps like AIM and a few games on there. Still works flawlessly. While WinMo is a fine OS that I also like, BBerry is hands down easier to use. JMHO.
Down for telus clients..
My Blackberry works, for voice anyways. Not 100% sure about email though.
I love my iPhone. Granted I am missing a few functionalities but I don't have to worry about this mess!
Thats cute. So tell me, how does your iPhone handle push mail?
Ahh... push mail, the last dying gasp of the Blackberry addict. Personally, I'll wait for my mail to be retrieved, maybe have a coffee, and lay-off of the office stress.
People need to chill out.
except for those odd days when AT&T's data network goes dark, of course
Mine has started working again...
Well kashif, I don't need push email so my iPhone handles it just fine. And yes, my iPhone is cute.
when was it down....mine has been working fine all day. Been getting BBm messages and emails fine and dandy.
My push yahoo mail on my Verizon pearl isn't working either... any ideas on how long this problem could last?
Great... And I JUST bought an 8800!!!!
@ Chris
Lol, sorry dude. Welcome to the wonderful world of BBs
I have talked with people on ATT and Tmo and their blackberries are working just fine....
But my Verizon one has now stopped :(
And my interent is back up and running. I'm glad i survived almost unscathed.
The servers appear to be flowing properly now. If you're expecting an e-mail and not getting it, pull the battery and put it back in.
I love push mail. Why, just yesterday the post office pushed some mail and junk mail into my mailbox.
This is not a dig on either, but simple facts.
I sell cellular phones, and anyone that wants to say that a windows mobile is more stable (excluding defective devices) is delusional. (Anyone that rips into this is just one that is what they call a fanboy, works for a win-mob company or just likes to try to start arguments, I wont reply to that so dont wast your time)
Windows positive...far more flex for applications for sure. But the hang syndrom does not happen with Blackberry plain and simple. I have had a blackberry supplied to me (from inventory random) for 3 years now, and I have had several (Because I can) and I have frozen one device once.
For the user of email on the go, there is no comparison, Blackberry 100%. But for those that need application flexibility you probably needs windows, but need to live with the device freezing i would hazard a guess once a week minimum with a simple remove battery and reinsert at worst to be back up and running.
I odnt get paid more for a RIM or a PPC, it makes no difference to me, but I can tell you i DOA RMA 10-1 ratio, Windows devices compared to RIM devices. Blackberry seems to have quality control down a little more pat than a lot of the PPC manufacturers (Excluding the Pearl, they seem to be on Par with the rest of the devices)
(This is half meant to be a shovanistic digg but with a little levity) The person who complained about the wife having far more issues than the husband...Well duh! You = Man wont complain just fix it move on. Her = Woman complain make you fix it and she moves on. :)
@Chris...Man dont even think twice about the purchase!! Down twice in a year for a few hours. Big deal. The amount of time peoples windows devices are in the pouch frozen and dont even realize it for 2 hours is far more excessive than RIM's down time. I didnt even know they were down, it doesnt affect phone functionality. When a Windows device that freezes, phone doesnt work either.
