There might be a world of iPhone hype out there, but if there's anything Microsoft knows how to do, it's fight back with sheer brutal volume -- and it looks like the WinMo juggernaut is just getting warmed up, with sales of 14.3m units worldwide in the past six months. Microsoft says the strong performance is based on sales of over a million BlackJacks and over two million HTC Touch phones, and that it expects to hit 20m WinMo phones sold by June. That's an awful lot of phones -- and with even
hotter models on the way, we wouldn't expect to see these numbers slow down anytime soon.
" but is there's anything Microsoft "
I think you mean "if"?
Yeah but how many phones have windows mobile software in them? It's a biased number...its BS if anything. If apple had their software in a bunch of phones the numbers would be through the roof!
I seriously hope you're being facetious.
The numbers speak for themselves, Windows Mobile isn't proprietary to a set of exclusive hardware and therefore has more market penetration. Huge surprise if you ask me, clearly someone at M$ has been making up numbers to decrease the collective e-peens over at apple HQ...
I'm not impressed. AT&T sells the Blackjack II for $99.99 after mail in rebate. The Blackjack I was buy one, get one free for a while.
iPhone? No discounts period.
Windows Mobile rules!
The real question is, out of 14.3 million sold, how many were returned? There was a recent study on this...
>> how many were returned?
The iPhone return percentage is extremely high.
I think its greater than 20%.
Win Mobile return percentage is less than 1 percent.
Which by the way didn't include the iPhone...
I wonder why.
Another thing to consider: how many countries actually have the iPhone for sale with providers??
Much of the Microsoft's success has been thanks to playing cooperatively with other companies (mainly licensing).
But it's OK, Apple is happy with their 6% (for PCs) and 20%(for Smart Phones) market share playing it solo.
