Now at Ikea: get some mobile with your Swedish meatballs
Meet Ikea Mobile. No, it's not a phone, and no, you don't have to build it yourself. Well, actually, you sort of do -- the new kiosks popping up in those giant blue megastores transmit deals to you via text message by photographing a barcode on the display, which we guess constitutes a do-it-yourself ad flyer of sorts. It's cool, we suppose, but we seriously would be all over an Ikea phone that shipped to you in like twenty pieces, especially if it was suspiciously cheap.

Mmmmmm. Their Swedish meatballs are like the greatest meatballs ever.

Anything under 31 parts and count me in. At least I know I wont end up unconscious the floor due to this Ikea product :)
Ah, it's a slow news day.
It would be like lego, I love Ikea they should rock that build your own phone idea!
How again does this send a text message to your phone?
Is it random ads/texts?
This doesn't make sense to me.
To clarify the description, I believe they way this actually works is that IKEA sends you a text message with a "barcode" which is a series of letters/numbers/characters (you don't have to go to the store to get the text messages). Then when you do go to the store, you hold your phone up to this display and it it reads/photographs the code on your phone. Then a coupon or something is available to you. I know the Seattle (OK, Renton) store is doing this, I just have not been by recently to try it out though I am receiving their text messages.
