T-Mobile gave us a quick look today at Nokia's latest clamshell, the
6650. The Series 60 phone is pretty sexy as far as Nokia flips go -- and quite the looker in its own right -- but it's still clear that Nokia's struggling to make any of its S60 units truly "skinny." The QVGA screen is naturally stellar, and the secondary display on the back includes a few capacitive touch buttons to control music playback. We also liked the main keypad, which is a bit of a departure for Nokia. The phone won't blow any minds, but it's certainly a solid play by Nokia for the budget set in Europe -- how about a little Stateside love, eh Nok?
me like, i just picked up a red n76 flip for my chick, this ones looks even sexier, grrr.
Correction: It's the 6650, not 6550.
I don't think they have a problem making 'skinny' S60 phones (E51 is plenty thin packing in wifi as well), I think it's more that Nokia still doesn't seem to 'get' flip phones.
If anybody have been reading my earlier post you know i'm a Nokia fan, but i couldnt ever recommend Nokia flip to anyone. I have personally had so horrible experiences with Nokia's flips all them have had major problems(dont even talk about 6260 or N76) compared to Nokia's bar and slider phones that have been problem free.
Nokia is the bar phone king by big margin and is able to make good sliders(8xxx and E65)thought with sliders it's a bit more of some models are good and some not that good.
Nokia can make thin smartphones as E51 shows and so will coming E66 and E71. It's just that most of the new models are packing at least 3mpx cameras, but Nokia should make thin low N series phone like N7x.
is this quadband with us 3g(then again nokia will as soon release a 6550-2 with the us 3g bands as it did with the n95) anyway if it is, might get one to replace my SGHA707 aka SGHZ560 for all you europeans
