Can you do that? Verizon renames year-old Samsung U740 to "Alias"
After a full year on the market, Verizon's apparently looking to give its dual-hinged U740 textmeister a swift kick in the pants. How? By hooking it up with a slick, marketing department-approved name, of course. The U740 will heretofore be known simply as the "Alias," which we don't really think has anything to do with the phone's physical characteristics, but maybe we're just totally missing something here. The specs obviously haven't changed, but at the very least, we think we can probably expect the phone to be on the market for a while yet seeing how they've invested this little smidge of effort into its revival. 80 bucks will land you a shiny new Alias on contract, if you're so inclined.

I think it's VZWS that needs an alias. I mean i thin people understand that call and data quality is probably consistently the best of the carriers but everything else sucks. Keep the quality get a new name. Like what Stringer Bell did in season 2.
Yea I have then everything but the service sucks.
Verizon gonna be launching this phone in silver soon with white buttons.. saw it at verizon wireless kickoff. looks hott
did you see anything up and coming?
I was wondering when I saw a TV ad for this one last night ... looked just like the 740. 740's a great phone if the keypad is to your liking (and, of course, if VZW's menus don't make you claw your own eyeballs out).
Sydney would use it... or maybe not. I think spies use Nokias if I recall correctly.
Didn't they do this with the LG EnVy ... It was like the LG vx6800 or something for a while before they changed it.
The LG VX-9800 was renamed to the "V" after a little bit of time. The enV (VX-9900) was always marketed as the enV.
