MobiTV, HowardForums resolve their differences
It looks like all is once again well in HoFo land, with MobiTV president Paul Scanlan himself stepping in and corresponding with Howard Chui directly. In short, Scanlan says that they never intended to get HowardForums taken offline (good for them), but that an abundance of caution in protecting "content and carrier partners" led MobiTV's legal team to step in and issue some stern words. To quote Howard, "I guess everything is okay now" -- so if he's happy, we're happy. Here's to many more years of threat-free HoFoing, eh?[Thanks, TJ]

Sounds like it was all just a "Whose penis is larger" contest. Unfortunately I don't think either side won.
Honestly, it's what we call a win-win resolution. There's nothing unfortunate about no side "winning."
nice to see not every company is evil and gives takedown notices like Apple
Well we know the President of MobiTV needs some elementary re-educating to know that a website is spelled "site", not "sight"
HoFo FTW!!!
MobiTV figured out that the cost of losing a half million customers paying $x/month was more than the cost of getting a takedown done (where x is a number that is too much money for a product that manages to simultaneously suck and blow).
Yet another example of rampant overlawyering. At least in this situation, executive sanity prevails quickly. Compare it to the Bank Julius Baer/wikileaks.org debacle.
I have to give ive credit to the President of MobiTV at least for seeing that one of his minions has bad judgment, and fixing it fast.
What's funny about this is that is just resulted in more people discovering the hole in MobiTV's service. I hadn't heard about it until this. Not that I care since I have both a Slingbox and Orb.
If this is how it truly played out, I'm canceling all of my MobiTV/radio subscriptions.
