Ireland and Austria get iPhones, and the shaft

As we expected, Apple just loosed the iPhone into Ireland and Austria. €399 nabs the 8GB model while €499 takes the 16GB unit home. T-Mobile has the honors for Austria as it does in Germany while O2 carries the flag in Ireland as it does in the UK. Interestingly, Irish subscribers are not entitled to Visual Voicemail or free WiFi even though they are offered by O2 UK -- neither country offers an unlimited data plan. Tsk tsk. Regardless, early adopters from those countries already had their unlocked iPhones months ago which makes the launch just a formality at this point.[Via MacRumors]

Maybe no ultd data plan, but an unltd Voice PLan in Austria: you pay € 39 per month and get unlimited calls within Austria, to any network. This price also includes visual voice mail and 3GB data...
The cheapest plan on O2 Ireland is €45 and only includes 1GB of data and 175 minutes of calls. It's really awful value compared to all the other countries' networks, and no visual voicemail.
I guess a lot of people will be unlocking.

For 39 Eur you get 1.000 minutes voice. For the more expensive plan you get more minutes free.
why are they still oppressing my irish brothers?.. after years of bs they're still playing games. give them what belongs to them full features!!! >:|
You guys have it lucky compared to us here in Canada where there are no longer any unlimited voice plans, and you have to pay $65 for 1GB data AS AN ADD-ON to your voice plan. There are no combined voice/data plans.
Yup, FUN! >;(
It's not Apple's fault that these carriers are so cheap.
