Why would they call it the XV6900...that's pretty misleading giving the fact that the Touch is not a follow up to the Hermes/Titan. Why not just call it the *gasp* Touch?
because while sprint has the mogul and the touch verizon prefers the XV6800 and 6900
which is the stupidest thing because statistically speaking humans don't remember long jumbled things as well a simplr words. And most of the time I think it's a good thing is the consumer knows the name of the product.
I'm a freshman in high school and some people really think my 6800 is cool (touch screen slide out keyboard) but when it comes to the name - confused faces and the "Vzw is stupid" type comments which I can only agree with!
Also as far as the numbering scheme goes: I'm pretty sure is just the order that HTC/Utstarcom developed them. sprint does have the PPC#### system but (smartly!) uses names for marketing. The rest is unknown

Now that would just make it sound old!
Because Sprint calls their Touch "Touch" and they wanted to be different.
I don't like the small screen on the enV(2). It's like the Upstage.
Sprint also refers to their Touch as the PPC6900, but it is not marketed as such. I don't know the exact reasoning for this though.
RC - then why wouldn't they change the name of the moto q9c?
