Sprint saying goodnight to the Treo 755p? UPDATE: Nope!
Feeling pressure from its smaller, sexier, newer cousin -- and every other smartphone, for that matter -- it looks like the Palm Treo 755p has taken its final bow on Sprint. With the Centro stealing the overwhelming majority of the Garnet limelight as of late, it seems there may be little business justification for another Palm OS device on Sprint's network; ironically, Verizon's version just launched four months ago, so we wouldn't sound the final death knell for the devicejust yet. For what it's worth, the classic Treo form factor lives on Sprint thanks to the 700wx -- another Palm device that's getting just a little long in the tooth (like 2006 long in the tooth). We'll admit, we'll probably shed a quick tear or two when the old-guard Treo line finally takes a permanent vacation in favor of newer, more modern looking designs, but we're not really mustering much eye moisture for the 755p here.[Via Brighthand]
Update: We've gotten word straight from the horse's mouth that the 755p isn't discontinued -- it's merely out of stock, hence the disappearance from Sprint's site. They're "addressing [the] temporary outage of inventory," though, so if you've got a hankering for the larger Garnet piece in Sprint's lineup, hang tight!

The only thing that was cool about the 755p was that it was the start of the Antenna free Treo's thats it.
Um. you mean the 680s, unless you mean on sprints network...
According to a sprint rep, they are slated to get more 755Ps at the end of April, but I doubt it.
You are indeed correct that they are....
Really? I thought the day would never come. Put the nail in the coffin and move on. Palm really needs to steal some Apple designers or *something*.....
Jumping the shark is never fun...
Err...Palm recently hired three Apple execs. Two are in charge of product design.
It does take at least 12 months though to get a new device out there, so you'll have to wait.
The 755 isn't slated for end of life according to Sprint and the Centro while a good selling phone isn't a business device.
Not sure why they'd ditch this before another device with the antenna. On the other hand, I can always hope it's a sign of the 800 being on the way.

Wow! Engadget has gone uber-optimistic!
I've had a Palm ever since they were known as Palm Pilots (made by 3Com). My 755p will be the last Palm I have. I've grown frustrated with how unresponsive Palm has become. They're years behind the competition now. if they would have at least communicated their plans to their existing customers perhaps they'd keep a few of us waiting. But alas, they don't have active marketing either.
MY wife and I recently purchased two Treo 755p's from Verizon after much research and touchy-feely time at the verizon store. The Treo gave a great show as a demo unit, but once we got them the honeymoon Quickly wore off and they were returned in 5 days.
As has been said before, Palm needs to catch up to the times; how about user accessible multitasking?!
We made the purchases knowing the Palm OS was more basic than, say, Windows Mobile, but I thought simple would be nice when applied to a phone. Apparently I was wrong.
Now I am nearly ashamed to admit we downgraded to LG enV's, and are Loving them!
Way to assume a lot just because the phone isn't on the Sprint website today.
I had a 700wx from Sprint. I sold it and bought a Mogul.
God when will the Centro ever come to Canada then, Eh!
if your gsm, you can get it
this is a really stupid question but i love the 700p, recently switched to att get the 680. dont like it as well. can you swap out the 680 casing for a 700p casing
