Verizon XV6900 finally available for order
Wouldn't you know it? Just as promised, that strikingly white XV6900 has landed on Verizon Wireless' website and can be snapped up now by those in need. The pain? $249.99 on contract after all applicable rebates -- oh, and knowing the Touch Dual is heading Stateside later this quarter.

Yeah, the Touch Dual may be arriving to the US, but as an unlocked GSM phone which doesn't even apply to Verizon/Sprint users in the first place.

Fuel for the flamewar thats all.
Bring on the Glyde!
It is delayed until further notice, they are appearantly reworking the user interface again... not for the better either from what I've heard.
Re-working the interface? Who told you this?
ROFL why would I tell you that. Get over yourself.
D Train, can you read? I asked WHO told you? I wasn't denying it, I'm curious as to where you heard it from. My god man...
yes I read and comprehended your question perfectly, and my answer still stands why would I tell you the internal source and possibly get that person fired? The fact of the matter is that there is no release date, there is no information on the phone currently available to the public, and from the last conversation I had, they are reworking the interface again, adding those things that werent confirmed like HTML browser, but it is even further away from a good UI now then it ever was as the Croix.
Internal source was all that it required. But I don't think your source is correct. Sorry :)
The HTML browser for the Glyde has been confirmed for this phone for quite some time. Pics of it have been on HoFo for months now. Now I'm not saying you're lying D Train, but is it possible that your source is just a little behind or misinformed about this phone?
I'm so very tempted by this phone.. My new every two is coming in May.. But my contract is up in September... and with impending 3G iphone/ Android phone releases coming in the summer and fall... I think i need to have some self restraint and wait out my Verizon contract such that I can jump on whatever service the Android handset comes out for.. or possible get the 3G iphone if its all its cracked up to be.
You may want to find out wether or not you live in an AT&T 3g service area first. I was waiting and waiting for a 3g iPhone and low and behold my area is not in nor slated to be a 3g area so getting it would do me no good. AT&T's broadband 3g does not stretch as far as VZW's 3G from the maps I have seen. And AT&T's website isnt the friendliest with showing you coverage maps it likes to time out and such.
I live in the DC/Baltimore metro area... last time I checked I believe that is one of the AT&T 3g areas.. Then again.. that could suck for traveling, that it doesn't extend far, though I haven't been traveling terribly much lately.
Whenever the 3g iphone comes out I'd definitely be waiting to see what Android handsets have to offer before I settle on something though.
Baltimore and Washington D.C is covered, but outside of that it isnt. so if you go to Northern VA, like arlington, fairfax etc you wont. If you go to other places in MD. then you wont get 3g service.
but after buying the regular iPhone a few weeks ago the edge is not that bad and you'd be surprised how much free wifi you find lol.
Anyway not a bit much on topic but its definately on the coverage map, that if you click : Cities available or whatever it is on the map it will list all the available cities.
I do a lot of driving in and around Baltimore (and sometimes down to DC) and it's all covered by EV-DO. I have Sprint, but I know Verizon has the same 3G footprint, and is even better penetrating into some buildings I frequent. Plus, if you travel up 83 into south central PA, Verizon has 3G and Sprint doesn't.
AT&T 3G basically is confined to the I-95 corridor between DC and Baltimore, so as soon as you leave that area, boom! Right back to EDGE.
I say get the 6900, throw a custom rom on it, get Opera Mobile or Skyfire, and be happy. I've customized my Mogul to the point where it caters to all of my needs in ways the iPhone couldn't.
$519?? Because I am not up for NE2. WTF??? Don't I get $100 online discount and $50 MIR? Verizon get on the ball don't screw your loyal customers.
249 after subsidies for a year old phone? nice VZW
alex
you are looking at the retail cost fo the device, if you are in contract and have to pay the retail cost, and you are suprised by that cost, please stop posting, because you have no idea how the cell industry in america works...
Seeing how this is essentially another HTC/Qualcomm device, the obligatory: "Got drivers?"
Hopefully some XDA people will find out.
Ok, possible dumb question, please be gentle...I've read it's possible to switch CDMA phones online with your carrier. *Is it possible* to buy this phone and use it on Sprint's CDMA network?
Captain,
Sprint actually already has this exact phone available for its network. See below:
http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/onlinestore/en/Action/DisplayPhones?phoneSKU=MP6900SP
Why would you want to use it on Sprint's Network? They already have the phone. Is it you just want one that has passed a stringent testing process and makes it a much better and reliable device than equipment you can get elsewhere? But to answer your question no you will not be able to move it to what Sprint calls a network even though they at least have good data speeds compared to AT&Tingular who barely has a data network.
Barely a network, huh? I don't know about you're knowledge of these devices, but I get close to a mb per second on AT&T. My average data DL speed flux's between 750 & 1000 kb/s.
...no actually I just like the white better.
@GSLEON3:
While "barely has a data network" is a bit harsh, there are a LOT of places throughout the U.S. that have solid EV-DO coverage from Verizon, but little or no 3G attention from AT&T.
Verizon may be evil as a company, but their EV-DO network has /hands-down/ the most coverage in the U.S. of any high-speed network. Every major city, most medium-sized cities, and much further out into the suburbs than AT&T.
Which I don't quite understand. AT&T has better phones, broader voice coverage, and 3G can be faster than EV-DO in a good coverage area. They could blow Verizon out of the water if they just sped up their 3G rollout...but they continue to sit on their hands. :-(
CaptainCaveman - you may be one of the few
"white phone" = *FEM
at the least, borderline Gay
borderline gay?!?
I never realized that the colour of ones mobile phone was an indicator of sexual orientation....
How is the battery life? What type of cover do you use if any?
Hi,
I just got this phone vx6900 a week ago. couple things I hope you can help me with. 1. voice dial: does it has the same thing link other voice activate type phone, like push a button, it will ask what do i want to call and access. It is kind of important When I am driving. I knew it has voice speed dial. but I need to click 2 steps to get it and it seems i need to set the voice tag first even for people's name. Or there is other voice package easy to use that I can install? 2. For the GPS, Do I need to download some program or i just need to activate it? 3. Can I use external memory card?
Thank you in advance
