Palm to begin beta testing on new device say emails
Word on the street (or via super-secret emails) is that Palm is about to begin beta testing on a fancy new device. Apparently, an email went out to select individuals calling for Sprint customers who will use Bluetooth devices and have access to WiFi. The email further requests that potential testers be "seasoned business professionals" who "commute and spend a ton of time working on email and on the phone." From the sounds of things, the company is gearing up to road test its heavily rumored, WiFi-equipped Treo 800w, a Windows Mobile device likely sporting 6.1. If you don't know what we're talking about, it's that mildly dated looking device from Gates' CES keynote that we've also seen in leaks recently. Nice going on the new spec and inclusion of WiFi (at long last) -- now how about some new form factors?

hmmmmm..
Does it have touch-screen at least?
Way too late. RIP-PALM
Here's hoping that this piece is less of a fatty fat fat than its predecessors.
If this thing has the form factor of the Centro with the specs I've seen, I'd really prefer to get it over the Instinct thanks to WiFi and everything else.
the keys on the centro are much too small for most guys, therefore hampering sales
Dated? I actually think it looks pretty nice.
HAHAHA .. are you joking? I really CANNOT BELIEVE people are buying this thing anymore. I mean, come on, the Treo was cool back when the 600 came out like 5 years ago. But now, it's just garbage. The Centro is basically A treo with EVEN SMALLER KEYS, right? Seriously, who are you people who are actually spending money on this crap? Have you used an iPhone, or a decent Nokia? Or even an HTC Tytn II or something? What is wrong with you?
I agree there are a lot of options however finding a WinMo PRO device with a static keyboard is not easy. That damn stupid square screen is what I can't stand.
aren't most screens square?
AWESOME,
PALM changed............................NOTHING......
This will only be a contender if its half as thick as the 750, GPS, 3G w/ UMTS, WIFI and WM7. Oops I guess it wont be sh*t after all.
There are those of us out there that want a front facing keyboard with a touchscreen that has 3g and is WM. It is amazing that practically no other manufacturer makes one of these. Almost every other front facing keyboard (one hand operation) is not a touchscreen or it does not have 3g. It will probably be a toss up between the new treo and the new hp device. They both look about the same and I hope both have touchscreens. I don't really care about GPS, I just want some better specs on a new device.
-Better Camera
-Higher Screen Res.
-Bigger Screen, Hopefully Widescreen
-WiFi (would be nice but 3G works well)
-Better Processor
-Larger Battery or better overall run time
-More internal RAM and ROM
exactly, and I'm one of those people!
