Limited edition Tony Hawk Sidekick LX on the way?
We'd recommend taking this one with a healthy dose of salt, but word on the street has it that Tony Hawk -- being the unashamed Sidekick lover that he is -- is gearing up to receive his very own limited edition LX. Oh, and his adoring fans can snap one up too if they're quick. Details about the unit itself are scant, but it will obviously be Tony Hawk-branded and able to do a 900 on command. We are hearing, however, that it's slated to land on July 16th -- just in time for the T-Mobile sponsored Boom Boom HuckJam, too.

no paris hilton?
Sidekick Hawk and Sidekick Hilton?
That would actually seem appropriate, somehow. Both famous Sidekick users, both celebrities that are arguably a bit past their days of glory (or infamy), and one for stereotypical boys and one for gender-typed girls. It's perfect, from an out-of-touch, corporate sort of view.
Naw really.
who pays extra for having someone else's name on your phone
Tony Hawk is so old and outdated already - there are better skaters then him Im sure. Tony Hawk branding didnt work with Nokia N-Gage, I doubt Skaters the world over will want a flipping LX Sidekick.
Something tells me that T-Mobile is starting to rely on celebrity endorsements more then Pepsi at this point to get people to think they are the cool image company - when in reality, people have moved on to better things like data speed, Flashy (excluding iPhone and Instinct) phones with function (think Blackberry Pearl functional yet simple). Sidekick is NOT Flashy - its bulky!
T-Mobile lacks all that and some sense to just invest the millions from endorsements into buying BETTER phones and pushing some new network services forward - like actual music downloads for their phones that can do it. Nokia, Moto Razr 2, Moto Krzr and a few others....like Samsung Blast!
BOOO ON T-MOBILE - Teenagers and Young Adults do not relate to Tony Hawk - being almost 30, he was popular when I was in high school.
if this is true it will do well.
tony hawk is still awesome. despite your guys' opinions on how dated he may be, his endorsed products still sell very well. you dont think they would keep making a new tony hawk video game every year if people werent buying them do u?
i actually kind of want one myself. but i have att. and its not exactly something i would jump ship for. but if i had tmobile then i would totally get it.
a has-been edition of a has-been device. nice.
if this is true, Danger (or is it Microsoft now?) will be pissed that a squatter already grabbed http://www.tonyhawksidekick.com...
