Hey looks real to me! and FIRST!
It's a fake. If you zoom in on the lower left hand corner of the front of the phone (near the heel of his hand) you will see that he obviously blurred the image to hide the LG Vu's buttons. It will look like water has spilled on the image and then dried.
And as others have pointed out the pixeling around the "iPhone", Apple Logo and Home button are evidence of a easy (sloppy) cut and paste job.
I more inclined to believe the previous spy shot than the one in this article.
Thats a lot of friggin' scratches. I want one, but damn.
That was the first thing that caught my eye.....that is a lot of scratches. Hopefully this guy is in charge of durability testing so he has to beat the crap out of it.

Is it just me or does this rather dull, not as special as the first generation model? Let's hope they're still tweaking the hardware design elements.
I see no volume rocker, no sleep/wake button, and no slient switch. I'm calling bogus.
Although, if real, it DOES look pretty slick. And if it IS real, that front facing camera better just be hidden really well (or in the screen)
It's an iPhone. That stuff costs extra, or will be available with the next rev.

If it is the real 3G iPhone in the photo, I'll be a little bummed. As an admitted Apple fanboy I was hoping for a little more flash. Apple being known for design and sexy hardware and all, this looks a little lackluster to me. Clearly I will still be buying one when they come out, but I will be doing so not based on looks but based on improve functionality over the current iPhone. I love the current iPhone, but will enjoy 3G and the supposed GPS immensely if all the rumors are true.
I think this is almost cool. Missing the chrome ring around the front, which I happen to like, but very close.
This is however a fake. I mean, why would you take a photo of a new iPhone with the screen OFF!?!?!
Well the removable battery is a definite improvement...oh wait...nevermind...
Well.. if they're going to make a $200 iPhone.. I'd imagine this is what it would look like. Spare some expense on the fancy metal housing / shiny bits. What I believe -could- happen, would be that the existing iPhone line would adopt 3G.. while this "sub-iphone" would still remain on the existing network, and of course, selling at the lower price point.
Looks like a Nokia to me. Nice scratches on the back.

This looks real. I have a comment about the glossy plastic. I used to work for Dell for a software validation group. When we would get a prototype of a new system in, the plastic chassis was always smooth and glossy. It makes me think that the iphone wont be glossy plastic, which would scratch very easily.... Just my $.02
Also its very small... Or this guy has large hands. We've already got size specs and its going to be around the same size as the current model so Im going to say this is a fancy photoshop.
Yup, another apple product that will look great out of the package but look like ass in about a month. (this has been my experience with all 3 of the apple products I have bought)
So these pics seem to be in line with my low expectations.
As someone on another site pointed out, the area around the home button, apple logo, the iphone print, the speaker etc. are all heavily pixelated compated to the rest of the photo. Fake, and thank god for that, it's heinous.
It'd be cool to have the apple logo light up on the back just like their MacBooks but probably 100% pointless!

Yes... because Steve Jobs has that kind of control over time and space. Leaks happen. This picture may be a fake, but to argue that "this must be fake because St. Steve wouldn't let it happen" reeks of fan-boi-ism
get off you fan boi soap box. look at my posts and you will see that i am in no way an apple fan. i was referring to the fact that jobs is a skitzo when it comes to secrets and doesn’t take kindly to them leaking. thinksecret.com ring a bell?

Is it just me or does the Apple logo look a bit off? In all honesty it doesn't appear to be the correct proportions. I took my current iPhone and held it as close to the angle in the picture, and the logo doesn't fit. If it isn't a fake, I am not too happy about that back, if it scratches that easily after, you would think, not many weeks. It does look an awful lot like the Vu, and it doesn't fit with the other "Leaked" photos. Guess we will just have to wait. Grr.
