HTC Touch Diamond shots and specs: this week's big announcement?
We know HTC's got a big announcement coming this Tuesday, and while we can't say for sure it's going to the Touch Diamond, if today's leaked images and specs are at all accurate we think they might have something big on their hands. Check it out:

Dammit, i just got a Sprint Touch In November! But ill suck it up and buy this newer version if its the one thats meant for sprint in October. Lol Verizons just now gettin Sprints Regular Touch last month. Verizon Folks should be pissed much to a Sprint Customers Delight.
Hopefully the player plays wirelessly through radios like LG's Musiq did. And More importantly, that Key Board Slides Horizontally(Mogul/Rahael) not Vertically (Touch Dual)
Why is this not on a GSM carrier?
Well, it kind of already is. The Touch Diamond is also the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV. And if HTC pushes it like they pushed the original Touch, I'd imagine it will show up on all major international carriers.
Quad-HSDPA?!
this will work on the new T-Mobile 3G network
why am I not impressed?
Ok, it's got up to date specs, but then it's just an HTC touch with a fance back side and a nice screen! Can't the N95 already do most of this stuff, sans touch screen?
The N95 has 8gb of memory, a 5mp camera, HSDPA, big screen, etc.
This has a little more, but nothing groundbreaking.
i just don't see what the big deal is.
The groundbreaking thing could be all this sweetness PLUS:
- VIDEO DRIVERS (shame on you HTC...)
- A GREAT TOUCH BASED UI (Manila anyone?)
Mind you, this is only half the size of the N95 8GB (about same length and width, but half the thickness).
A shame that it seems HTC still isn't very focused on the camera department, though. If they could cram in a xenon or photoflash this device would be pretty much top-notch in every aspect.
This has a micro-sd slot. it will be able to hold micro-sd cards up to 32gb. The N95 doesnt have a touch screen and is very thick compared to this phone.
WinMo Pro? Really?
Don't all Pro devices have Windows + OK buttons, while the non-touchscreen (WinMo Standard) devices have Home + Back buttons (as this one does), or has that changed in 6.1?
Traditionally, yes, but I don't think it's a rule set in stone. It could also be that this phone is ready for WM7, since that is supposed to bridge the gap between Standard and Pro.
only WM6 or later have
This makes it a hard choice between the Diamond / Raphael and the XPERIA X1. I don't believe I could make such a choice.
Yeah i will have no idea what to do when the time comes around.
No way it could be a slider, look at the mini usb plate on the bottom of the device.
the lack of many hardware keys will make this device painful
so Id probably between the other two
Can we say Nokia Prism?
Can the Nokia Prism say VGA?
If the specs are accurate this is definately going to be a winner! Finally a small very thin form factor that has all the main features without missing a key feature!
btw, if those screen shots are real, I don't see a stylus, could it be a capacitive touch screen like the iPhone?
Well, the phone's name kind of gives it away...
Shoey it's clearly in the lower left of the device, in the picture above to the left of HTC's special usb port. (notice it's grey)
Now that you mention it, is that another proprietary port???
I take serious offense to that proprietary port on my HTC Star Trek, which was otherwise a fantastic smartphone in its day -- why not a standard mini-USB? Even RIM does that... While we're at it, a standard 3.5mm jack would be nice too.
HTC has a long history (with me) of getting a device /almost/ right, but not quite... :-(
Amen. Using USB port for headphones blows.
The mini USB port on the bottom of my HTC S620 has that same shape. Even though it doesn't look like a standard mini USB plug it takes the right cable.
I wonder if those polygonal shapes on the back are in fact an uneven surface, or just a painted-on design?
Look at the side shot. It's just a design.
Either way, they're definitely really ugly. And gratuitous.
"the it makes sense"?
if the camera has flash, that will be wonderful.
Hopefully there is a graphics accelerator in it.
BEAUTIFUL (the specs, mainly)
I love HTC!
