I have a complete set of contract drawings and specifications in pdf on mine for the two projects I'm managing. If I'm in the airport I don't have to break out a laptop to discuss the project or a problem. Mine works great with a Jawbone headset and the 5" screen is easy to read when looking for details. The internet connection is also good for reading engadet or the DrudgeReport! Also I don't need a GPS when traveling as the X 7501 and X7510 both have a build in GPS which isn't tied to a over priced service! I no longer travel with a laptop for meetings so I've traded a 5 lb laptop for a PDA!

Guepard

Comments on HTC Advantage X7510 gets unboxed, still baffles us

The place where I work will not allow us to access non work-related internet websites, so I have an advantage 7501 to browse the internet and be able read what's on the web pages. Seriously? Oh, it's not an iPhone, I get it. I get it now.

To rebut in advance:

First off it runs Windows Mobile. So if you're into Windows Mobile and all it's 3rd party application and dev support then you might be into this. Then, if you really would like a WinMo device with a screen larger than the standard'ish 2.8" you might like this. It's 5" BTW.

Juice

Comments on HTC Advantage X7510 gets unboxed, still baffles us

It's a great PDA and better than a UMPC with Vista (ugh!). I use it for a bunch of apps that I've been using for years, and the connectivity is great. I don't use it for voice as I have a small cell phone for that.

I know, I know...the nirvana of a converged device. But the gizmo I want to do hand-writing on, play bridge on, read books, watch video, etc. is bigger than the gizmo I want to use for a phone.

The 5" display on this baby is awesome! If you use this with a laptop you are in for a hefty bill. One of our Users recently returned from South Africa for two weeks and with very carefull use of packet data for internet on his laptop - data bill came in at just under $800.

Another user that was traveling with him using a HTC TyTNII managed to have more consistant contact with his email for the same time period for $150.

WM6 uses heaps less data in communicating with exchange. It is designed to be very carefull of how much data it uses.

For mobile email the TyTNII is nice however the screen is very small for constant use. Somthing like this Advantage would be awsome. I am trying to find someone who sells them here in Australia.

yes I agree WM6 isn't Vista - however for International email roaming it kicks butt.

The big advantage of WM6 is you gain access to all of your exchange folders within outlook allowing you to keep your inbox filed away - which if traveling overseas for a couple of weeks is a real advantage. As well as the benifit of Pocket Word / Excel and Powerpoint.

I can see an Advantage removing the need to carry a laptop.

I see allot of baggers here - and that is a real shame. I can understand that WM6 is not Vista - however there is a use for it especially if your traveling O/S for 4 months of the year.

Andrew
