Sprint dropped 1.09 million subscribers in Q1
Q1 2008 wasn't a pretty one for Sprint. The company lost 1.09 million subscribers to the competition, while also losing a bit of ground on its average revenue per customer, now at $56 a month. Sprint's got 52.8 subscribers left to squander work with, so we'll see if initiatives like a potential Nextel spinoff or the upcoming Samsung Instinct (pictured) can do anything to staunch the bleeding.

GEE WHIZ. this has to be due to nextel. Nextel so long get lost, lol!
No need for dan@sprint.com to have more detail to his email name as soon he will be alone.
"Sprint's got 52.8 subscribers"
don't you mean
"Sprint's got 52.8 million subscribers"
I'm subscriber #47 of their 52.8 subs. I worry about the poor schmuck who is 0.8 a subscriber.
LMAO Well it won't be too long till it 52.8 subscribers. I would really like to meet the .8 subscriber. Sprint Suuuuu-uhhhhh-cks.
hmm. i've been following sprint for a while(i've been a nextel subscrier since october 07)and all i see is bad bad things. nextel even lost about 27billion of its net value. it went down to about 5 billion. thats a WHOLE lot of value just bein flushed down the toilet like a cockroach. its sprints fault too. nextel was just about to have massive complications because its network had so many users on it. now, its not busy at all, and over half of the subscribers have left over a poeriod of about 3 years.
The declining ARPU probably has something to do with (in the recent past) easy access to Sprint SERO plans. I'm paying $30 + incidentals for 500 anytime, unlimited text, unlimited data, and I have no intention of letting go of this deal.
The declining ARPU has to do with customer lowering their calling plans due to the economy believe it or not.
so, with an average revenue per customer now at $56 a month and 52.8 subscribers left, that brings sprint's monthly revenue (from customers) to $2,956.80. :P
Why are people leaving Sprint? I have been a contract subscriber since 2000. I have no desire or plans to leave. Sure, for a while their phone selection was weak, but that has changed. I have know idea why people are complaining about their customer service - I have called CS maybe 3 times - once on a rebate status, and twice to get my employee discount billing in order. I think CS issues are like something of a self-fulfilling prophecy; the word is a company has bad CS, so when you deal with them you go in with a preconceived mindset.
Service wise, I have no issues. Started with them in Sioux City, IA (small city) service was solid in town and along major highways. Now I live in KC and have excellent service. $15/mo for unlimited data, cant beat it.
As long as they provide service I will be with them!
Purchase of the Instinct requires activation on an Everything plan, starting at $69.99. Existing customers can switch to Everything plans without extending their contract. New line activations require a two-year agreement. Instinct requires an Everything plan for key features to function appropriately.
