T-Mobile working on advanced text blocking capability, maybe more
So we caught wind yesterday of rumors that T-Mobile was planning to offer several comprehensive levels of text and call blocking this summer, offering super-granular control over who exactly can reach your beloved handset. Options would include per-number blocking, SMS, MMS, IM, and email on an individual basis -- only free messages would still be unblockable. We contacted T-Mobile directly and got the following response: "We are working on a service we plan to launch this summer that would enable customers to block text messages (beyond what is available today)...stay tuned." In other words, yeah, it sounds like there are some more advanced options on the way. That's good news for us -- and bad news for our stalkers.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

What if you're your own stalker? I'm conflicted...
This is great news for those of us (& I imagine there are quite a few) that actually have had problems.
I had some guy in Oakland sending me photographs (use your imagination) & after texting him back that I didn't think I was the intended recipient w/ no results I called ATT only to be told there was nothing I could to other than turn off the service.
Finally I spoke w/ him (twice) & the texts/2am phone calls stopped...
Thank you T-Mobile. Please look forward to at least 1 new customer in the future.
Sounds like one doozy of an "oops wrong phone number"...
(If i had T-Mobile) this would be perfect.
I can block all those bill collectors from calling my phone with "Courtesy Calls" reminding me to pay them.
i know someone sued t-mobile to get this to happen for SMS... AND i know t-mobile threatened to sue Engadget Mobile over the use of magenta BUT I still can't help but like T-Mobile for taking this to the next level beyond just SMS.
so yay for the big pink T!
