Now, they've toyed with it for so long, I say screw 'em. As someone pointed out before, their features now don't match up as well to the iPhone sucessor; they were a formidable opponent for 1.0, but not 2.0.

I say, add a freakin' bow. I no longer care.

derX

Comments on Meizu M8 interface redesigned yet again, gets all sparkly

I think I've now been following this Meizu M8/Mini-one saga for over a year now (close to 18 months), and I'm ready to nominate this for Wired's top-ten vaporware products.

As derX said, if they delivered it a year ago (or anytime in 2007, really), I would gladly have paid for one. Half-way thru 2008, when the iPhone 3G is (allegedly) mere weeks from shipping, the HTC Diamond is in the wild, and Samsung is pushing out its own would-be iPhone killer... well, a tweak to the pretty interface on the non-existent M8 doesn't cut it.

My guess is that this thing either (a) never ships in this form, or (b) ships sometime in 2009 as a mid-range smart-phone that is doomed to be a regional oddity like the Axia A108 was (a touch-screen candy-bar WinCE phone I owned a couple of years ago, out of Singapore).

Kirk

Comments on Meizu M8 interface redesigned yet again, gets all sparkly

Who are they copying this time? The current release period is unknown, estimates range from the second to the fourth season of 2008.

The most recent pricing information for the standard M8 version 4GB, 8GB and 16GB models are 2000, 2380 and 2980 CNY respectively. So what? In Meizou's case however, they suddenly came up with en exact replica of someone else's product that promises technology that the company knows damn well they don't have, nor will they acquire any time soon. How can you take a company like that seriously?

polo4455
