Treo 850 specs leaked?
If recently leaked specs for Palm's Treo 850 end up ringing true, it looks like the darned thing might actually have some bite to back up its bark. TamsPPC cites a "good friend" working at Palm who claims that the device will feature HSDPA 3.6, WiFi, AGPS, a 320 x 320 display (we should certainly hope so!), 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, 256MB of internal storage, and a somewhat anemic 32MB of RAM. It clocks in at 14mm thick, 60mm wide and 113mm tall and features Windows Mobile 6.1, so all told, it looks like this could end up being a serious competitor in the WinMo space coming out of Palm's camp at a time when it needs another big hit. Just bump up that RAM to 64MB, Palm, seriously. Trust us on this.

Can anyone ask this "good friend" if there will be a Palm OS version of that Treo 850? That would be great (at least for me)

bump up the ram to 256 MB like XPERIA!!
dude...xperia has only 128mb ram...but yea 32mb is useless
The 32MB RAM does make me worry a bit, but there's plenty of time for them to slap in some larger chips.

@Vidit Bhargava
go check the sony ericsson website, it says that it has 256 MB of ram
32mb of ram. impossible must be 132 or something because 32 is useless
1 word to describe this phone...
"Fugly"
what happened to palm os anyways...
Centro's Fisher-Price keyboard, updated hardware button graphics, updated WM OS? This is market-leadership?? 320x320 screen which was supported by WM*5* over 2 years ago? aGPS? Verify that the GPS runs independent of a cell signal if they want to keep up with Blackberrys of 1-2 years ago.
For a true US-based company, Palm, you're not exactly helping the American image. Even US auto manufacturers understand that brand-identity requires an overhaul within a 3 year period.
While technically correct, the only reason why 320X320 resolution was not supported under WM5 was because Palm never requested it. Just as Moto requested support for 320X240 Landscape and received it from MS. As sad as Moto is, Palm couldn't even rise to their level.
I agree with you that Palm is doing terribly. I own a Centro (Sprint GAVE me two of them)... The Centro's keyboard is a bit cramped but pretty efficient. I don't often find myself mistyping, and the feel is pretty good.
Leaps and bounds better than most of sprints previously offered phones. In fact I'd say that its a highlight of the phone, considering it lacks in just about every other department.
I really want to support Palm. I loved my Treo before it broke, and I still really like the Centro for the price (free for me, but I would probably pay the 99 bucks everyone else is)... but this is not the direction they should be heading.
The first step is to either jump on Android's boat or get your new OS out by next Summer. The next step is nix this design and come up with something nice looking. If not that, than please give me something to get excited about. Nobody minds a slightly taller, slightly wider phone... Your flagship phone shouldn't be your version of the Blackberry Pearl.
another winmo device. yawn. another piece of crap from palm. double yawn.
time for some flash on the pics.Lighting on treo's suck
