A reader was sent a rather revealing "consumer survey" this week, and though the carrier (or manufacturer) responsible for commissioning it wasn't revealed, we're thinking AT&T may have been behind this one. Why's that? Well, several phones -- most real, one rendered -- were shown during the course of the survey, and one of the devices was an AT&T-branded
Pantech QWERTY slider that we've straight up never seen before, so unless there's some funny business going on, no other carrier should have access to that intel. In fact, the whole survey was focused on text messaging and text-centric, QWERTY handsets, asking questions about what sorts of form factors and features customers would like to see to improve their messaging experience. Also pictured were a
Sidekick Slide (presumably for comparison's sake), a Samsung QWERTY slider sporting looks similar to the
i620 and
i640 (minus Windows Mobile, seemingly), and a rendered, unbranded device touting a gargantuan display and a number of available colors. The reader was asked what name they thought best suited this particular phone, and the choices were "Blaze," "Quickfire," and "Reveal." Needless to say, we're not so sure how we feel about putting an "AT&T Blaze" in our pockets -- but if it happens, at least we know who to blame.
[Thanks, anonymous tipster]
ZOMG! Bunch of those look like Sidekick clones, but nicer. The Pantech unit looks like the LG Rumor on Sprint. Model E = GSM EnV?
In regards to the Model S, I want to thank them for making sure I know it's a Samsung phone. Sure, I might not be able to fit any useful amount of information on the screen, but I least I know who made it.
Model E is a Verizon enV, you can see the get it now and navigation stuff on the screen.
Maybe thats the Pantech Duo 2? because it says slides up, and slides right for qwerty board and number pad. If it is, it is fuuuuugggggllllyyyy....
Model E looks like a silver Voyager to me.
Or at least the Env series.
Since the Model M is a dual slider, I think we can safely assume that it's a variance of the pantech c820 aka Duo 2 for at&t (remember the ocean and the duo looked slightly different as well).
Model E makes no mention of front touch screen so we can assume gsm enV2 since the internal screen has no red on it.
Lastly, I'll take a Model N please.
It's the Pantech C740
The Model N looks kinda like the Electrobit MID design. Not exactly, but close.
If it runs Android, Ubuntu Mobile, or Maemo, I'd be interested.
I would LOVE a GSM EnV, so I hope that Cingular (Yes, I refuse to call them you know what) picks one up. Voyager better yet! And btw, this is coming from an iPhone user.
This is a survey to compare AT&T's phone to competitor's phone. It looks like AT&T wants to compete in the dumbphone market with full QWERTY's. Model E is the Verizon EnV (no GSM phone coming, just to compare pricing and style). Model K is T-Mobile's Sidekick (Again, not coming to AT&T, just to compare pricing and style). Model N looks like a new dumbphone device available in multiple colors. Model S a Samsung dumbphone with QWERTY, Model M a Pantech Duo type phone without WinMo on it, another dumbphone. Plain and simple.
oops sorry, i sent that when this first came out
