HTC, why couldn't you release the Diamond as a Tri UTMS Quad-Band GSM device, Why do we have to wait another 2 or 3 months, I'm dying here, crying like a baby, I want it now! :)

Joe

Comments on HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets

I think this blaming of U.S. Carriers is lame. If the handset makers really wanted us to have them limit the time that carriers have to decide. Then just release all models at once. The we can decide to subsidize with a locked handset or not.

That would loosen up the market and make carriers move quicker. It would also give us an option. I mean overseas isn't that's how it's done. The carriers have to get exclusive handsets otherwise, like Vodafone is doing with the Raphael. That would cause GSM carriers to go the extra mile past just subsizing phones with their own software or having cheap branded handsets made. That's why they have better devices overseas than we do. I mean does anybody really think at&t would get a Raphael? NO!!! T-mo probably would as it tries to gain a decent customer base as it tries to grow it's 3G network. Maybe even Verizon or Sprint but, not at&t. Look at all the nice GSM devices out lately - the nice Walkman phones, the SE UIQ phones, the Nokia N series, even the nice LG's. How many of these devices has at&t picked up?

NONE OF THEM!!! It's a shame that the largest carrier in the U.S. has inferior coverage to the #2 and #3 carrier but has access to the hottest phones in the world that only a radio change needs to be done (850 GSM, 850 and 1900 HSPA) and we have to wait on Best Buy, Nokia, and etc. to get them. Even the ones that have the radios we need.

And we wonder why no manufacturers cater to us. I guess not. All we get are those WinMo devices that alot of money is paid for the WinMo licenses and the rest of the handset is cheap as all get out. When's the last time a touch screen SE or LG had it's screen break or, a Nokia. Wake up people! We need to buy more unlocked devices to stop this.

Cingulair

Comments on HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets

Plemix says they have it...

james

Comments on HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets

It might already be quad band. Remember the Touch... They said it was only Tri to eventually find out it's quad. When the Diamond is supposed to come to the U.S. it's rumored to come to CDMA carriers only. In that case there might never be a quad band Diamond. Wrong. It's probably quadband right now but just need software unlocking or possibly no unlocking at all. Just because they say something doesn't mean it's true. Even with their own products.

This HTC company is a little sneaky...

Juice

Comments on HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets

Those of ya REALLY hankerin for the Diamond, head over to XDA-Devs, someone over here got the Diamond early from HK, and we've already got the ROM ported to the Wizard, Kaiser etc....its not perfect mind you, but it may tide yah over until the real deal gets here!

Christian Walters

Comments on HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets

Sorry brother, that wasnt supposed to be a reply to you, just a general comment!

Christian Walters

Comments on HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets

This phone looks great.
