Palm Centro heads to Verizon, in stores tomorrow for $99
Come on, T-Mobile, all we need is you to get on board now and that'll make a perfect Yahtzee! for Palm with its surprise hit, the Centro. Thanks to Verizon's expected announcement today, the top three US carriers now carry the diminutive Garnet device, which Palm actually says is "off to the strongest start of any smartphone in Palm's history" -- quite a statement, considering the Treo line's rich tradition. The Centro is also the first Palm phone to be eligible for the big V's "unlimited" E-mail and Web for Smartphone plan, which runs you a thrifty $29.99. After the full, delicious menu of rebates and discounts have been applied, Verizon's version will run the same $99 on contract that the boys and girls on Sprint and AT&T pay, and we can look for it to be available through all retail channels starting tomorrow.
Update: Palm also has a brand new Facebook app launching with this phone (which will be available for the AT&T and Sprint models as well).

Verizon sukcs so does Palm.
Palm will never sell more than 50 of these stupid white ipods wannabe Centra.
Nintendo sucks
Nintendo will never sell more than 50 of these stupid white ipod wannabe Wiis.
Engadget is a Palm Fanboy!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're wrong, @Franchesca. This is an excellent phone... FOR ME TO POOP ON!
kookoobirdz:
I did rather poop on your mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both of you are so wrong...Yes this phone sucks major ass but it will sell well because its sooo cheap. Anyone looking for a "smartphone" that is cheap (read: high schoolers) will buy this phone...why do you think they are putting in a Facebook app?
As a disclaimer, I am in no way supporting this phone or anything Palm does, because Palm sucks.
Your post is totally wrong.
Right now Nintendo Wii is the best selling of the 3 game consoles, check NPD numbers or vgcharzt.com.
Palm centro is selling incredibly well and it has been posted before even here on Engadget.
Third Engadget a Palm fanboy LOL. Engadget seem to absolutely hate and bash Palm and also Nintendo too.
Just search for palm and you will see how much Engadget has bashed them.
That Facebook application is awful. Don't they know the full desktop version is available and fully functional on ANY PHONE running Opera Mini.... more than a year ago?
stone age phone, with a good price.
FYI.
This phone runs Opera mini just fine.
Apple!
Wow comments here are so inmature.
In real life most people complaint that Palm OS interface looks dated and that the browser sucks.
This is quite easy to solve and for free.
Install opera mini wich includes full page preview (a la iPhone) and is the best mobile browser available.
Install a modern looking skin, there are free and paid skinning programs:

Yes, Finally
I'm going to get one... My T5 is a great device bu i'm tired of having 2 devices to carry around. I will not go with Rim.. Personal reason... WinMo does not entice me enough and no easy way to transfer all my stuff to it.
Finally the Centro has come to Verizon
Fisher-Price for the masses! (But only if 10-year-old children constitute the masses!)
There's something to be said for "Fisher-Price" devices, its so easy to use and to add software!
Good luck with its micro-chicklet keyboard and dead-man-walking OS. You'll need it.
Why does the greasy-faced Sprint/Verizon kid always ask: "Do you want fries with your Centro"??? ;)
