O2 briefly shows off prepaid pricing for iPhone 3G
It's a far cry from free, so just how badly do you want to avoid that postpaid contract? O2 had posted pricing for the iPhone 3G when purchased through its Pay & Go prepaid program, showing £300 (about $591) for the 8 gigger and a brutal £360 (about $709) for the 16, though the information was mysteriously pulled just moments later and replaced with a promise that details (the very same details they've already leaked, we presume) would be available "shortly." Though those sticker prices will eat holes through even the mightiest of wallets, buyers will take some comfort in the knowledge that they include six months of WiFi access, after which it'll run £10 (about $20) a month.

Sounds great. I'd pay the £360 just for the pleasure of an ever-so-slighlty convergent apple device such as this one; i'm still just not going anywhere near o2 with a ten foot bargepole. Wish they'd hurry up and release it so the dev teams could get their hands on it.
Yikes. Me thinks I might wait until I spot one on eBay.
A chunk less than I thought they'd charge (what, you thought they'd just *give* them away?).
LOL CAN I HAZ iPHONE FREE PLZ
At least on contract you get unlimited (sort of) data, that's the reason I'd pick it up in the first place.
O2, honestly is trying its hardest to get the iPhone a kickstart here in the UK. They are real jealous of ATT who raked in all the riches with the same product in the US..
Vodafone Greece since a bit over a week has a web page to "Set Up an Availability Alert [for the iPhone]" (at http://www.vodafone.gr/portal/...e.action?pageId=3361 in English). Availability is not known yet. They do mention though that the price of the iPhone without contract will be €499 (US$778) and €569 (US$887) respectively for the 8GB and 16GB model. In a separate phone call yesterday a Vodafone Greece rep stated that the expected arrival was in the October/November timeframe.
I'm terribly sorry for the broken link in my previous comment. Here is a tinyURL leading to the Vodafone Greece webpage in question: http://tinyurl.com/3hxgd3
£360 for the 16Gb model isn't bad, not much more than a 32Gb iPod Touch.
Prepaid iPhone + Unlock = Win.
Look at it over the 18 month term
Min Contract = £30x18 + £159 (16GB) == £699 TOTAL
PAYG = £10x12 (+6 free) + £359(16GB) == £479
Add on say £12.22 worth of Txts+calls on PAYG / month == £699 TOTAL
i.e. the same !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Makes your choice
